Positive Post - hearing voices

About a month ago I had my depot increased to try and get rid of the voice. It's kinda worked. I woke up with the voice talking then as the day wore on it shut up. As I type this I am hearing no voice. I still have concentration issues though.

My cpn warned me that if I get stressed that the voice may come back. But it's great and kinda weird that I am hearing nothing but the telly. I have been hearing voices since 2003 so it's been a long time.

But hopefully this should continue. My cpn said that if I hate the silence that I can go back to a lower dose.

Wow! This is such great news, I'm so pleased for you. It must be so weird getting used to the silence, but I imagine you will get used to it soon, just as you got so used to hearing voices.

Thanks everyone. The silence is so weird.

I had the voice when I woke up and for twenty minutes it talked. But it was more of a background noise rather than being a distinctive voice. Again as I type this I have no voice.

22 minutes I had the background noise this morning. But then silence. It seems to be a feature. Some noise when I wake up then silence.

Well it's kinda plodding along.

Last night for the first time I had the voice at night. I managed to get to sleep though. Again I had the voice for about 20 minutes before it shut up.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully this will be temporary! Have you let your CPN know that this has happened?

I think it's because I am stressed Jenna (see my thread in gsa for the reasons why). I haven't told my cpn but she is coming on Wednesday to see me and I will tell her then.

I am hoping that once my stress levels are gone the voice will go away. My cpn warned me that the voice may go and then come back when I am stressed so I guess she is right.

Yeah, it certainly sounds like things could be worse because of the stress you are under. I hope you're able to talk about this with your CPN on Wednesday and that she can provide some advice for reducing the situation you described in your GSA thread.

I told my cpn before. She said that the voice may go now that I have had my depot or it may reduce. I am feeling less stressed today.

I have updated my thread in gsa too with some promising news. My cpn asked me what does the fact that I no longer hear voices means. I said that it meant that I was truly ill and that I was not doing it for attention. She said that if I was doing it for attention then no amount of medication would work.

I feel sad that I have to be on medication for the rest of my life but the quality of life that I have means it's worth it. My cpn said it was good that we found an antipsychotics that really works well for me.

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

Thanks Jenna,

So far it hasnt made any difference to my voice - I am still hearing it for 20 mins a day and then it shuts up. Maybe it will take another depot for it to have any difference. Maybe it wont and that's the best I am gonna be. But whatever it is, it's an improvement on before.

I know that it doesnt mean that I am cured of schizophrenia because I will always need meds. I also had what my cpn calls "ideas of reference" (basically Prince Charles told me he was an alien), and that I will always suffer from the negative effects of schizophrenia. Especially low mood that effects me often and for weeks, and also concentration issues. I just hope that I am not discharged from the cmht because I dont feel ready for it just yet.
