Unexplained symptoms both physical and mental

I quite frequently get completely unexplained symptoms, both physical (such as chest tightness/discomfort and stomach pain), and mental (such as sudden feelings of anxiety or sadness) for absolutely no reason, and when I say unexplained, i mean at complete random, with no precursor, no warning and nothing having occurred to cause them. Was wondering what your takes on this would be? (sorry if its in the wrong board, seemed to be the most appropriate one from my p.o.v.), edit on second thoughts, the general support and advice board might've been better, mods, move it if you wish or leave it here

Have you spoke to a Dr about it? What might seem out of nowhere is probably form somewhere.

Like I get night sickness sometimes, where I just vomit everything I've eaten that day at random and I'm not I'll, and I don't have a tummy bug or anything.

I used to think it was random but have now realised it happens in times of stress or anxiety, when I'm trying to ignore said stress or anxiety. If that makes sense?

I recognise the sudden pains in the chest/stomach, I get them sometimes but they don't have an apparent explanation.

Sometimes it can be incapacitating for a few moments, I usually put it down to indigestion, I'm on painkillers long term for chronic knee pain though and they usually mitigate these pains too.

It sounds to me like you might be experiencing panic attacks.

You can read the signs and symptoms of a panic attack here. They really can happen out of the blue even at times you don't feel particularly anxious.

Can you see your GP about this?

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.

Panic Disorder does that but I am not a doctor so best to approach a professional with this.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

It is difficult to explain, however, this anxiety I don't feel as my own as such, more I pick up on the anxiety of random individuals.

So that means you DO have an explanation for your symptoms and don't need this thread?
Genuine question, not telling you to not make threads. Just wondering why you say it's unexplained while giving an explanation.

My beliefs are somewhat unusual (compared to the norm, and what psychiatrists/other doctors believe, I do have journal articles on this subject if you'd be interested, but it is more than likely that they'd think ESP=delusions, which is simply not the case), and it depends on your viewpoint of 'unexplained', for example, I believe in ESP and all the various trimmings that come along with it therefore I have an explanation, however, steel maiden (sorry I singled you out here) does not believe in ESP, therefore they may not have am explanation, or their explanation may be different
am I making any sense here? :P I'm utterly exhausted so sorry if not

I don't believe in ESP either, but if that is what you believe I'm happy to accept that.

My question was more why you would make a thread named unexplained symptoms just to explain your symptoms after all.

Because I wanted alternative explanations to the symptoms, and by medical/mental health standards, what I feel is unexplainable.

I see.

My opinion is that it could easily be anxiety as I get the symptoms you list and there's no trigger I'm aware of a lot of the time. For me, part of my anxiety disorder is exactly that there is no reason to be anxious. Being anxious for a specific reason isn't necessarily a disorder depending on how strongly it affects a person. Just like depression doesn't need a trigger or external reason anxiety can randomly hit you. The physical symptoms that you describe are also something I experience with my anxiety disorder.

Your idea of what an anxiety disorder is seems to differ a lot from my personal experience with it. I also don't think there is anything unusual about sensing other people's anxiety or similar and being “infected“ by it for lack of a better word. I can get terribly distressed if I am around someone who is feeling certain negative emotions.

I know you say it's not anxiety, but so far I haven't read on single thing that would make me exclude the possibility. I'm also not claiming it definitely is anxiety because how would I know? I'm just offering the only explanation that I can think of that seems reasonable for me going by no other expertise than personal experience which obviously influences my opinion on this.

I believe it depends on how far your "infection" by others goes regarding other's emotions, it may be due to just natural empathetic skills or one may be empathic (psychic empath, or clairempath)I differentiate between MY emotions, that is, ones that originate from me, and those that don't. I personally don't have a history of ME being overly anxious, rather I often pick up on other's anxiety (at a finer, more sensitive level, and also at great distances), and am usually now able to separate those emotions from my own.

I am reluctant to see a doctor about the unusual experiences, such as being able to sense emotions and all the rest of it, due to them at best not believing me that it's not my emotions, and at worst, thinking I'm having a delusional psychotic breakdown (extrasensory experiences are most likely to be put down do delusional psychosis by doctors if they were to find out), which I'm not

There is evidence for some people being extremely empathetic and actually experiencing the feelings of others close by. That's not ESP, its just an unusual phenomena for which various theories exist.

If you don't want to seek help then there's not a lot we can suggest. If you're sure it's the ESP thing then you will have to think of ways to deal with that, maybe by going on ESP forums?

Otherwise seeing your GP would be very good, talking about the anxiety you experience and you could try some CBT to learn how to cope etc.

Not all doctors will say the same. I saw a psych once who said that it's not necessarily abnormal to hear spirits (as I do) and didn't think I was psychotic or delusional.
so you can't really write off all doctors.
I can sense other people's feelings and thoughts (not read minds but just get a general idea) and the psychs weren't that bothered about it when I was ip.

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

Do you find it problematic to experience this?
Maybe we can offer support for dealing with that.
If it doesn't cause you any distress I'm not sure how we can help.
