Home Treatment Team

I had an assessment. With crisis team earlier. They said that the home treatment team are gonna call me tomorrow and arrange to see me.

I have never seen them before. What kinda help do they offer? I've never been in hospital and I'm terrified that's gonna happen and I don't want it to.

The home treatment teams aim is to keep you out of hospital.

What they do varies area by area and also depends on what help you need.

They will visit you at home for a short period of time eg ten minutes but this could happen twice a day. They will ask you about how you are feeling and maybe give you meds etc.

I only really want to echo whats already been said. The aim of them is to keep people out of hospital, & to help you through a crisis.

I know we had something like this once, we just had a couple of people come to the house every week or two and they'd ask how we were doing, what had been going on for us and such. They'd take that info back to the CMHT and make sure we were getting the support we needed, make referrals if we needed extra support and so on.

It was fairly helpful and very comforting to know we had people coming to check up on us. They often can't do a lot depending on what training they have, but they will try their best to make sure you're getting as much support and care as your mental health requires.

Good luck and I hope things go well with them.

Keep safe.

Nik.

I hope they help you. I haven't been under them myself but I have been offered their service in the past and when I looked into them I heard good things.

Let us know how you get on.

I've seen them before on a number of occasions. Their aim is pretty good - there have been times where I've felt they haven't always been helpful though.

They will call you, make an appointment with you that may only be 10 minutes long but may be longer depending on your level of need. They can talk to you about whats causing your distress, try and help you work out what to do such as self-soothing activities, they can communicate with your care coordinator and so on.

The longest period of time I was under them was 10 days but that is quite long for them from my understanding.

I hope you find them helpful, stay strong!

Thank you.

It went OK I guess. They came to see surprised me with another appointment tomorrow with the psychiatrist. It means I've gotta have an hours bus ride on my own which I hate to get there and it's at the hospital. Which really scares me cos I think they won't let me go home

They can only force you to stay in hospital if you post a moderate to high risk of harming yourself or others.

Being honest with them is a good idea.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
