I am currently:
in a lot of pain and want to cut

I was supposed to have surgery this Monday coming up on my wrist because I got hurt at work. 2 years ago I had surgery on it to remove the ulnar head due to no cartilage. My wrist was finally doing well with only random sharp pains if I over did it but I was able to work with no problem. On Halloween I had a walker fall on my wrist and it hurt. I told a co-worker about it but they had changed the accident report forms and we weren't sure how to fill out.

The next day was my long shift and my wrist still hurt. I went about the day and I went to pick something up and heard and felt a snap and pop then had extreme pain. I held my arm to my chest to try to protect it. An individual who has hurt me in the past (I work with mentally disabled people and he is strong and if you are in his way he will walk through you) slammed my arm as he ran past me. I had to walk out of the house and I fell on my knees and was sobbing I was in so much pain. Once I calmed down I called my manager and told her and asked her how to fill out the accident form. She told me then told me to get back to work. Anyway to the point; since then I have been out of work, it took a month to figure out that the tendon hold my bone in place snapped and my bones touch if I twist it the wrong way. Workers comp decided to postpone the surgery until I see one of their drs a few weeks from now. The point is I normally cut to deal with pain. I didn't before because I knew when I'd be fixed. Now I don't know when and I'm in agony. My primary doctor was nice and prescribed me something for pain for about a week. I'm still in pain though and want to cut or do something (not on the injured arm though). I'm so fed up and I just want the pain to end. How do I deal with this pain?

Sorry this is so long. If you've read it all or some of it I appropriate it. I know it's long

I'm sorry that your having to deal with this, that doesn't seem right that they are making you wait in pain. Are you able to go back to your doctor and let them know your still in alot of pain, perhaps they can prescribe something stronger. Cutting won't make the pain go away, you will still be left with it and perhaps guilt. You are doing so well, don't throw it away. Keep reminding yourself why not cutting is important to you and let that help you fight through the urges. I hope you get it seen to soon, thinking of you

I can really empathise with this.

I find finding alternative ways to manage the pain helpful. Have you looked into accupuncture and things like that? It could really help you while you're waiting for your surgery.

Imperfection is underrated.
