Meds and training

I'm on cotalopram 30mg and olanzapine 10mg. I want to train for tough mudder and struggle to get up in the morning because it makes me groggy and makes me sleep for 12 hours.

I wondered if anyone had trained on similar meds and how hey managed it. I thought about splitting my olanzapine and having half at night and half after I trained in the morning maybe. I don't have any other ideas though.

Citalopram is making it hard to eat but I think I'm managing ok.

Hope to hear about your ideas. And meet Christmas. X

If it's making you sleep all that much, could you see your doctor about a reduction? And that idea about splitting it might really help.

This is something your doctor can advise you on - I wouldn't split the medication before checking it's okay to do so. They may be able to give you something else that doesn't make you so drowsy :)

Good luck with training!

You should not take any decision without discussing it with your doctor. You can also take a second opinion from other doctors.

I'll ask them. I don't want to reduce my dosage because I am finding it helpful and I'll take drowsiness over being unwell like I was.

I have a few other side effects but I'd rather work with what I'm on and what I can do than change my meds again because they're helping loads.

I will ask my gp when I see her though. X

I agree with speaking to your doctor.

However, does the sedation wear off throughout the day? If so, surely you could just do your training later on? You may even find doing something active makes you feel more awake.

"I know you're sad, so I won't tell you to have a good day. Instead, I advise you to simply have a day.
Stay alive, feed yourself well, wear comfortable clothes, and don't give up on yourself just yet.
It'll get better. Until then, have a day."

Yeah At the moment I train in evenings but working out in the morning will fit into my schedule better if I could just get up in the mornings and not feel dead. X
