Pain relief

How can I manage my pain better? I have a bone that has subluxed and I am in near-constant pain.
I'm prescribed dihydrocodeine and pregabalin but I would like some non-medication ways to manage the pain? And the pain relif isn't really managing my pain, but I know that is something to discuss with my prescriber.

I know i'm technically under medical professionals but i don't see them without paying so I'm hoping someone can help me with non-medication pain relief without me having to go to the dr who prescribed me as I can't really afford it.

I hope this is okay...

I dont know if this will appropriate for your pain, but have you tried acupuncture? My dad has sciatica and when it is really bad he goes for a few sessions. It works for him.

It does cost as it's not free on the NHS, but if it works, then it may be worth the money.

i'd considor it, yes. i've never had it, nor would i know where to get it, but i'll google!

i'm seriously considoring calling the out of hours gp about what to do right now because i'm in a lot of pain and the codeine, heat pad and ibruprophen hasn't helped.

is that a legit reason to call or am i being stupid?

I would say it is a legit reason as the GP may be able to give you a stronger medication that you dont currently have.

Really as you are under the are care of a doctor for this (whether or not you gave to pay for that particular one) and we also can't give advice into further drug therapy, I am now going to have to close this thread.

Hopefully you've got all the help you've already needed from the urgent health centre but also remember in the future you can speak to your GP (which everyone is entitled to on the nhs) regarding pain meds, it doesn't just have to be the specialist) and they can help you further and prescribe you meds if they feel it is needed. Due to the fact it sounds like you gave something pretty complex going on at the moment we can't give you any other advice on how to aid the pain but I REALLY hope your operation goes well.

If you want to discuss this decision further then feel free to PM me.
