mental health research trials

Hi

last year I did a research treatment trial for people with psychosis and really enjoyed it and learned a lot. My CC has now has entered me for a 6 month occupational therapy study for people with mood disorders and Im really looking forward to it.

I really enjoy doing the trials but I usually only know about them through the early intervention service.
Thing is my time with early intervention will end in 12 months.

Does anyone know how I can continue to be involved with other research project (mainly in London) once my time with EIS is over?
Like uni research and things.

I have mood disorder, psychosis (schizoaffective disorder) and history of an ED if that helps.

also anyone else done this?

You could check out the universities websites or local health places, or email people at the university who are conducting the current research and see if they know of any others you'd be suitable for.

I sometimes see them advertised in newspapers.

I think if you want to help then anyone in the research parts of the uni would gladly help you to find out more info, keen participants can be hard to find!

Occupational therapy sounds awesome :)

I am only ever interested in ones that I can't take part in due to my mental illness :(

IoP do a lot. I started to participate in one there, but I didn't manage to complete it.

They do a lot though, like they did cognitive training research for people with schizophrenia, which was similar to the one I did, but for a different category of people.

I have forgotten the name but it was along those lines.

I've been offered to do a lot over there, but I tend to decline if it lasts too long because I was rubbish at getting to places regularly back then. Maybe worth looking at?

Obvs IoP is also linked with Kings, so maybe it's on the King's website.

It's just around the back of the maudsley so it's also worth taking into account travel.
