olanzapine

Im on 15mg of olanzapine and I would quite like to lower the dose (with my doctors consent).

Does anyone know what the lowest therapeutic dose is for this medication?
I would like to be on the lowest does possible in order to reduce side effects.

I take it for psychosis if that helps.

If you're getting your doctors consent then you really need to ask them about the dosage and side effects.

If you ask us on RYL then none of us are doctors, we don't know your medical situation, and we can only say what the dosage was that we were on and each person reacts slightly differently to a medication.

The lowest therapeutic dose of olanzapine is going to vary depending on your symptoms and your own brain chemistry etc. It's very much an individual thing that you need to ask your doctor about.

When I was on olanzapine my dose was titrated up in 2.5mg increments rather than trying to second guess what dose will be effective could you discuss the option of slowly titrating it downwards until you find an effective dose with minimal side effects?
