Therapy Referrals NHS and future help.
I was refrigerated to IAPTS for someone to "talk to" after a suicide attempt. Tentatively I agreed and it took SO MUCH to even confirm I wanted their help, and even more to go ahead with the assessment because I had a really bad experience with some services that have left a lasting impact on me.
I did the assessment. The decided to not offer me someone to talk to but to refer me for mentalisation therapy because someone suggested it months ago when I was in services. I don't want mentalisation therapy. I don't think it fits and I think my diagnosis is a massive misunderstanding.
If I deny MBT will they deny me other help in the future should I really need it or struggle? Like my support worker suggested a rereferral to CMHT for some reasons. Say I needed help further down the line, will turning down MBT (as already accepted) be held against me in future?
Thanks.
