Hi there,

What kind of support do you think you want to access?

There are numerous ways to access MH support; whether it's through your GP, organisations such as Samaritans etc...it all depends on where you live and what support is available in your area.

Are you able to explain a little more about your situation and where in the world you live so we can give more accurate advice?

It's the ups and downs of living life this way. Promise me you'll never go away. Just stay with me through one more night because it's always darkest before the light and now I promise you I'll never turn away. I won't let you give us one less heart to break...

Hi Katie,

Thank you for your response :) I'm in the Uk, Ive done 12 sessions of CBT and it did not touch upon any of my issues, it was inconsistent and very unhelpful. I wouldn't look to return.

I have been trying to desperately to get some support from secondary services, as my mh issues have been negatively affecting my life, work etc but their attitude is always 'over your dead body.'

My counsellor was so concerned that she referred me on to secondary services, where I told a psychiatrist (at an assessment on Friday) that I was feeling suicidal AGAIN and he for some reason sent a letter to my gp saying that I said I was perfectly fine and had no present concerns over my wellbeing. What? How did this happen?! I am shocked!

So on this false basis, they are denying me a care co ordinator. It's very upsetting, because I met with the manager of the crisis team and their psychiatrist, I described how I was feeling, and we were in agreement even at that time, that extra support was both needed and reasonable. (This meeting was months before I even had the assessment with the psychiatrist on Friday).

I have had to send an email to go to the psychiatrist who did Fridays assessment, and it has also been forwarded to my gp, highlighting the issue that the fact I said I was suicidal AGAIN and have tried to kill myself 3 times in a row (March, April, May) was not noted and again ignored.

I met with my gp today and discussed it all. She says to wait 2 weeks for a response and in the mean time have booked a follow up appointment with gp for 2 weeks' time. we are waiting apparently not to be fobbed off again.....xx

Hi there, Im JusC. I hope ur ok? Yh u not said what support u want help with from ur post but what is it u want help with?

Good to know u are brave to talk about how ur feeling. Thats good. You know that ur not on ur on in anyway not being able to talk to anyone. There are people who u can and finding it is hard.

There maybe a combination of things going through ur head right now where u dont know who to turn to or what help u need but again there is support. You need to think what is the best support for u. I mean talking to someone one on one, attending classes, going to workshops, taking up a hobby of doing some voulnteering u know.

Thats best way to start then u need to think what they can help u with. You will know then what and u can work on it on there or u can get in touch with another service they have suggested. They will look at options and tell u whats best to do and u will take the action there. What do u think? That what u can try right now?

Im not sure either if u go to college or u work but that is something what will take ur mind off things and meeting everyone will help with ur confidence to get out for urself. You need for u. Yh

Have u spoken to anyone about this?

I know a bit about ur situation now so yh thats good whst ur doing by seeing a Counseller which is a good step. You get on with her well and said the meetingwrong went well. Thats good. What support are they giving u?

Im sorry to hear that u are feeling sucidal again but its good that u got the support system there. What they going to do? Do u live on ur own? Yh if u do then do u get anyone to check up on u. I wanted to ask.

Carry on with the support ur getting as it seems to be going well. You said u wanted to get help from secondary services. What did u do to get in touch with them? Did someone help u to? Im not sure why they would do that to u but u only know wether the support u want isntthe right support u need.

I dont know if u live in the UK or not but this website is only for it. Its called Get Connected and they get in touch with other services on ur behalf so what ever the problem is there is a service what can help u in ur situation. They are not an advice helpline. They will look for services what may help u. You need to explain ur situation to them so they can try and help u best in need. You can speak to them by webchat or phone. What do u think?

Your doing good. Keep it up.

Your not on ur own.

Talk Soon

Ok. How did it go with the secondary support? What sort of help would u like? You said u ase Counseller before but it didnt work. Would u go there again if it was someone else? I think maybe its worth getting in touch with other services that u havent acessed before. Depends what age u can see them for free.

Im not sure what kind of support ur looking for but i think u said depression or something. I suppose u have tried seeing the doctor and counseller before but it not worked. I think maybe seeing the doctor again and asking if theres anything they can do is a good idea. I dont know if ur taking medication but u should look into that.

Theres other support out there i know. I dont know if one to one would be good for u right now. Maybe a support group would be better as u wont be on ur own and feel like ur not getting anywhere with the support ur recieving for u. You have to look in ur local area and find out more.

I think the doctor could out u in touch with another service where u would find it helpful. Somewhere who can help with how ur feeling at times of need. Ive heard of the Crisis Team. Would that be any good or

There is advice on mental health on these pages, u could look at the website called Mind who are a chairty what supports people with mental health or The Smartians who u can speak to in need. Theres one ive tried u might find useful and they are called Get Connected. They dont give advice to u but they do look for services in where u need support and u can acess them on ur own. What do u think?

You should try and keep busy when u can. I dont know if u work or at college but u can try focusing ur mind on that or attending a club. Music, Art, Cooking, Sport or Reading club. Its what u wanna do.

I think its looking at ur options and going back to doctor and getting more support. You can visit those websites and can try contacting Get Connected who can put u through services who u can acess and doing something in ur spare time. There are alot of things out there. Need to find it.

Im here if u wanna talk

JusC.

Hopefully your GP can help fight your corner. I had similar issues gettign into secondary servies despite hospital admissoins, referrals and etc etc

My GP started hounding them.

Now I've since been discharged, I am actually receiving more and better support from my GP again than i ever did whilst I had a CC or was under CMHT.

- except for when i was in therapy, but that service was unrelated to CMHT and I could have had that treatment without being under a CMHT -

Thats true. You should try ur doctor again. You never know or u could try what i suggested above with the message i sent u before and see what happens.

There is help out there and u shouldnt be on ur own. The secondary services might listen when ur doctor speaks to them. You need more support and it goes to show. I would try that again. When u seeing ur doctor next? Do u still take ur medicación?

Good Luck
