A question about a therapist

My therapist text me asking me how my court date went (I'm going though a custody battle with my daughter) I said it went ok sent him a pic of my daughter he said she looks like you, cute I said thanks I get that a lot he said me too and I said not that I'm cute that she looks like me and he said if you were any cuter you would need a license for it, your dangerous enough as it is. I don't know what to make of this??

Texts can be ambiguous. He could be simply attempting to stay lighthearted in a tough time, but it sounds like he was being flirtatious.

So I think you should say something. Clear the air. That sounds to me like he is crossing some boundaries that he shouldn't as your therapist, and a professional in general. Tell him clearly that you're not comfortable with him flirting with you and that it isn't very professional of him. If he does it again, I would start looking for a new therapist.

For a person with the amount of power over your emotions that they have, therapists that openly flirt with their patients are taking advantage of the often emotionally compromised people who trust them.

Completely agree with what Dash said. Look after yourself and trust how you feel.

I would certainly never communicate like that with a client -and certainly not via text where it is written in evidence. Personally I think it crosses boundaries and is inappropriate.

i agree with Dash also, sounds like he was flirting and if he made you feel uncomforable in anyway you need to speak with him and explain that to him

Even if your comfortable with this therapist it is still inappropriate.
Professionals have lost their license for less.
Keep the text and any further messages just in case you feel you need to bring this up with their manager.
