Weight gain?

Hey,
I was recently an IP where they altered my medication from/to: Quetiapine 600/750mg and Pregablin 75mg in the morning and 150mg at night to 225mg in the morning and 300mg at night and Venlafaxine 225mg/37.5mg.

Anyway, since it changing at the end of May I have put on weight which is alot for me and the eating disorder is yelling at me to stop taking my medication however at the same time it would lead to a relapse. I didnt realise I was putting on weight until i got discharged three weeks ago. I was just wandering if any one knew what the weight gain could have come from and if people had tips what I can do to prevent the weight still keep rocketing up :(.

Thank you for reading.

I think there's a percentage gain or loss that's statistically significant, like 10% or something but it sounds like there's been a big gain for you, and I think it'd be worth talking to your doctor about it. I don't know much about those medications, but I imagine your inpatient stay might have been a factor too, as you'd have been less active and eating differently to normal.

Hey

I think it's best to talk to the dr about this as whilst the meds may be the reason it might have been due to you going into hospital.

I think tips on ways to stop your weight rocketing up are difficult because you have anorexia and I know when I saw you you were actively trying to increase what you ate whilst still eating very little.

Thank you both for replying. I agree maybe being inpatient contributed to my weight going up but I don't think it can be the whole reason why I put on lots of weight

I am trying to increase my eating but that's been put on halt because I can't get my head around my weight right now. I guess I hoped to increase my weight slowly so I could get used to it and start to feel more comfortable with it.

I have an appt with a a different psych to whom I see at the end of the month but I need help right now.

Can anyone please suggest what i could do to stop weight gain due to medication. I know to swap sweet cravings to fruitfruits but is there anything else. I don't want to lose it anymore but i want to maintain it. Thanks

I think is a tricky issue because any tips on stopping weight gain due to meds directly clash with your eating disorder and can be viewed as ways for you to stop gaining weight full stop.

I think in this instance you're better off seeing your GP and asking them for advice as they can factor in your eating disorder too.
