^^ Yeah that always confuses me too. In the US it goes month/day/year.

I'm pretty sure you can't do it..

I've been trying to find a way to do this since staff was given access to the site and haven't been able to. Sorry but I don't think there's a way.

I think Harley and I looked into this when he was building the site. There are mechanisms, but we decided not to implement them because of the load they would introduce on the server.
All those dates on every forum page... and the server would have to decide just how to render each one according to each user's preference....huge work, and I'm afraid at this point in time anway, not a good use of resources.
Sorry about that one everyone!
(Harley might wish to add further comment to this thread at some point)

Yes, the issue comes from the fact dates (and times) are used in nearly every operation anyone does on the forum...and normally multiple times for every operation.
When you click a thread to read it, when you post, delete, edit, PM - even when you browse the site it is logging what you are going so that it can update the site for everyone else. Those times and dates are displayed in a lot of places too.
I could have it check a members profile and then display the time and date formats as specificied in your options - however, this is another fairly minor feature at the cost of another wedge of server resources.
It is a really tough balance to try to strike. I wanted to add as many cool features into RYL v3 as possible to make all you guys' lives that bit better - but a slow site is not going to be best for support, and so I was forced to make some sacrifices.
Sadly, this time/date format thing is notorious for bleeding resources on large busy sites, so until I can discover a more efficient way of doing it this is something that will have to stay on the wish list.
Sorry to not bring good news!
Harley
