I am currently:
Mixed Affective Episode.

Does anyone have experiences with a Mixed Affective episode caused by Bipolar 1?

Anything they found helpful and what made it worse?

My partner has been told she's in this type of episode as she has Bipolar 1 and is very unwell.

She is acting differently and strangely.
I went with her to her appt and even they knew straight away she was in an episode.
She has been put on Ablify and starting it mon.

Until then, anyone know what to do here?

Thanks.

I have experience of what my mixed episodes are like, but I think it varies hugely from person to person.

Personally, in a mixed episode I feel extremely depressed but with energy that comes from a hypomanic episode. I feel a lot of rage, I am irritable, I feel all wrong and like my skin doesn't fit.

Do you know if the abilify is being used for antipsychotic or mood stabilising properties?

Just be there for her, ask her what she needs, give her space if she asks for it.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

I think it's being used for both.

Thank you. I appreciate the advice and personal experience - it sounds similar to what she's going through.

Thanks again.
