Phenergan for anxiety.
I've been put on Phenergan for my anxiety, & told to take one during the day when my anxiety is bad...
I took one today & feel kinda numbed out & spacey - is that normal? I still feel anxious (short of breath etc.) but less so, & just kinda, brain fogged.
Just wondering what anyone elses experiences were?

Hi Helen yes I experienced this when I took them. It also made me a bit headachey and tired and I had quite vivid dreams as well. I take Atarax now and I get on well with that too. It did wear off after awhile though the headaches. Hope you are ok x

I think it's an anti-histamine? I was put on this for a while to help with my sleep but now I'm on Zopiclone.
I don't really know if I had any side effects as took them before sleep. I hope they work well for you.

Hi, I took these for a while. One a bed time along with zopiclone and could take one as needed during the day. To me I noticed positive or negative effects.
I have taken nozinan (levomepromazine) which is of the same "group" of medication as it acts in similar ways and that just seemed to calm me soooo well!
I suppose what I'm trying to say is that meds work better for some than others!

When I was IP people were commonly prescribed Phenergan for anxiety or to help them sleep. As far as I remember it's quite normal to feel sleepy on it as it is slightly sedative.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…
you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.

I've been on it for insomnia as it is known to have a sedative effect so I would say that this is normal, assuming they've already taken in to account your other issues. If it's likely to be problematic you should probably discuss changing it though.

^You can get paracetamol prescribed. If you can buy it, it can be 'scribed too.
I take it at night to combat insomnia from Rispiridone. It's helped a bit so I imagine taking it in the day would have a calming effect. I know it's been offered as a prn for me before but I am too high-risk with it to be able to use it safely.
Give it a go and if you find it helpful, great, and if you don't then you can ask to change.
Feeling spacy is normal as it's a sedating antihistamine.
