Anyone been to a crisis house?

I've been seeing the crisis team and they have recommended I think about going into a crisis house. I've read the leaflet but it doesn't really say what it is actually like.

So has anyone been to one? Good experiences or bad? Did it help?

I'm leaning towards trying it but I'm really not sure

I have and it was helpful. You get more 1-1 support than in hospital and more freedom. I'd advise it if you're struggling in the community.

I have and I didn't find it helpful, I found I got hardly any support, just an hour a day with someone, I didn't benefit, but lots do.

Thanks. 1 hour a day sounds great ! The main thing is I've never been offered anything like this before and I might not get another chance. I think I'm going to ask the crisis team to refer me. It's better to be in a safe environment, away from my bubble I'm living in right now.

I think it's a really good thing to try, before you get to the point of needing to go into hospital.

I was in one as a transition between hospital and home. It was a bit boring as there wasn't much to do but there were always staff around to talk to and I had a one on one support worker who came and helped me to get to appointments and things.

Thanks for your replies

The one I'm going to has staff on hand 24/7 and has activities and informal group sessions (not therapy exactly) like anxiety management. They are keen for me to go into one so someone can keep an eye on me. Especially whilst my partner is at work. I was told today that there is a week long waiting list but that might change when people check themselves out. I'll also be put forward for short term therapy at the same time with the crisis team. So I think it'll be good for me. I hope.

Yeah she was very nice. I'm moving in tomorrow. Sounds very good and feel less nervous now.

Spent my first night here. Hourly obs are annoying :( it's very chilled here and there aren't many residents. Apparently I have the biggest single room and it has a nice view. It's all still a bit strange and new but I think it'll be ok. Thanks for all the advice guys xxx

I'm glad you went. Yes hourly obs are annoying, especially at night, but it's keeping you safe. And it could be worse, you could be on 5 minute obs or even 1:1!
