Vertigo is the pits!

Does anyone else here get vertigo? I'm just recovering from another episode right now - gosh it's horrendous. I suspect mine is connected to anxiety attacks cos I seem to get real stressed and a switch goes off in my head and the world starts spinning, but the doc is still convinced it's an inner ear thing >.< Any hints or advice on getting through or dealing with it? I have some anti nausea tablets which take the edge off but sometimes it takes weeks to recover. Vertigo sucks!

I know how you feel. I went through huge bouts of vertigo about 5 years ago in connection with anxiety (I suspect you could be right). Not much helped with the vertigo, but it lessened as the anxiety levels lowered. Do you have support for your anxiety?

Each wave a promise, a new hope reborn

I sympathise with you, I've recently had an inner ear thing, it was the worst thing I have ever experienced.

My GP mentioned the possibility of being seen by a balance clinic? Apparently there are some exercises they can give you to help.

My GP also prescribed me some medication to help me with my dizziness, which reduces the pressure in the inner ear to reduce the vertigo. Within a few days I noticed a real difference and within a week I was able to go back to work.

Anxiety can make inner ear issues worse and also anxiety can be a symptom of some inner ear issues so it can be a bit of a toxic circle.

I have it too!

Anxiety is linked with the inner ear and so either anxiety can cause any underlying ear issues to be worse and ear issues can cause severe anxiety. Before I damaged my inner ear I never had anxiety and at the moment I am crippled by it.

I dont really have any advice but I think dealing with the anxiety will help and getting a referral about the inner ear will help too, I dont think one thing gets sorted without the other!

It is frustrating though, I totally get where you're coming from.x

Thanks guys! The doc showed me some exercises which involved rolling on your side before getting up which helps a bit. I've tried my best to stay calm and we've recently gotten aircon installed - the cooler temperature seems to have helped as well for some reason
