the drs won't listen

I injured my knee back in May and saw an Orthopedist.. He first diagnosed me with lyme disease and that turned out wrong. Then he gave up and said it was nerve damage and sent me to a pain specialist.. I saw her and she tried me on several different NSAIDs which I reacted to them all. After ending up in the ER from one of them the nurse said no more NSAIDs. I called the pain specialist and said I need to get in soon as I am not sleeping and in agony. I got a call back that she will see me tomorrow. I so afraid she won't give me anything for the pain. I can barley walk and keep waking up at night even with sleeping meds. I'm so tired of everything. I am so tempted to cut myself to be able to control the pain. I see another orthopedic farther away who operated on my knee when I was 16.. I see him next week.... I just really hope the pain specialist gives me something.. I'm going to cry if she doesn't.... I'm barley tolerating the pain now as it is and its getting worse.

so the pain specialist didn't give me anything and told me to go to my Rhumetologist who they never told me left the state. so I am **** out of luck and in agony. I sobbed for a good half hour today and still feel like crying but idk what it'd do for me....

Sorry your in so much pain, can you demand that you are refured to another DR for a diffrent opinoion or go to a diffrent ER if it becomes to bad?

That sounds like a horrible situation to be in. Is it possible to get a second doctors opinion as they may be more willing to help. I hope you get it sorted soon

I was able to move my appointment to tomorrow and am praying he is more helpful. I saw him when I was 16 and liked him so I hope he hasn't changed. My mom is coming with me which makes me feel better.. I just really hope he does something for the pain. I hate to say it but I'm almost hoping he'll do surgery to see whats going on in there because mri's and x-rays dont always show things. I tore the cartilage in my wrist 3 times and it didn't show up in any test. The doctor I saw then was an arrogent ass and I could tell he was just doing the surgery to make me happy.

I got answers today!!! Turns out I have the wrong brace on. He wants me to do 4 more weeks of physical therapy and if I'm still hurting like this he will do exploratory surgery. I won't even have to go see him first... Id just have to call him and set up a date. He gave me something called tramadol for the pain. The other Dr said take it every 12 hrs. He says take it every 4 hours.....I love this doctor. He actually cares about his patients

I am glad you found a doctor who was willing to listen. Hope the pain eases for you soon
