bathroom sink blockage problems

It's been draining very slowly the past few weeks. So I got the vinegar and bicarb of soda and boiling water and did the whole procedure! Now it is worse, and barely drains at all. Help! Looks like I'll have to fill in a form for maintenance on Monday morning. All this weird gunk floated up, and the stuff is still bubbling. Chucked most of the water down the loo. Agh! Photos attached for anyone with DIY nouse!

What about taking the U-Bend off and cleaning that?

That would be for the friendly on site maintenance man to do! I agree that's probably necessary, unless it clears through eventually before Monday.

I really don't want to go the heavy duty chemical route, but do you think it's at least worth a try?
It might even be limescale build up, who knows...

I know I'm on the top floor which could make drainage slower, but it was fine up until it.. wasn't!

You can try using one of those chemicals, it's worth a shot.

But it's good to get the U-bend off from time to time anyways to get it cleaned!

I've got these sachets of powder stuff that you put down the plug and then pour warm water down as well.

It works really well!

You can get drain and plug unblocker from any supermarket, usually beside the cleaning stuff and bleach. Try Mr Sheens sink and plug unblocker, it's in a very bright orange container and it will unblock it no bother. It's very strong and you need to be really careful, but it should work. I've used it and found it effective.

I'll see what Sainsbury's has tomorrow.. It's finally draining away. But I'm having to use a bowl to run any water to do anything, and chuck the used water in the loo! Agh, this is silly!

I use Mr Muscle unblocker, it is the only thing I found that worked. It takes awhile depending on the blockage (and what is it probably) but you have to use the whole bottle, otherwise it doesn't work. It's in a big orange container.

I THINK I have it sussed. The test will be when I brush my teeth, aha! But so far today it's been running smoothly! The mini batch of bicarb and vinegar that I put down before work ran straight through so fingers crossed.

When the drains in the bathroom are backed up it can be quite a mess to deal with. Clearing the drain helps keep things stay clean in your bathroom. To unclog a sink, tub or toilet, pour a bottle of bleach in the water over the drain and let sit. Check back in a few hours and it should be drained. Then run some hot water for a few minutes down it.
