Work accident

Morning
As its saturday i can get info from CAB etc as our area only days certain days and hours. MY husband had an accident at work which was not his fault.

My anxiety right now is we rely on his wage. He is going to be off 8weeks minimum as his job is manual labour. Does anyone know what an employer is entitled to when it comes to wages etc? Sick pay wont cover our rent never mind electric, gas, food. He is due possible surgery so i havnt let on im slightly worried and told him it is ok. We will cope. We wont though.

As a work related injury is he entitled to more than statutory sick pay??

I'm really not sure Shelz. Darren broke his hand not long after Faith turned one and he only got his sick pay for the 4/5 weeks he was off. Like you, we did struggle, but we called our housing associations, council about our rent and council tax and explained the situation and how payments would be little or non existent until his wages went back to normal. Our electric is a pre-payment meter and we don't have gas. Food wise, we can get a food shop from Iceland for around £50-£60 which usually lasts us about two weeks.

Sorry I'm not much more help!
Hope you get something sorted soon!

We get no payments towards housing. We solely rely on his income and £20 child benefit along with £18 child tax credit. Sick pay is around £90pw and our rent is £120 pw. We have £8 left over after rent guess i will need to speak to solicitor and go ahead filing a claim which we wanted to avoid.

Have you looked into industrial injuries benefit Shelz? You might not get a massive amount each month but every little helps as they say. Wishing you the very best of luck and sending a massive virtual hug xx
