I am currently:
Olanzapine

I'm looking for personal experiences of Olanzapine. Was it helpful? Did you find it sedating or not? Because I've just been put on 10mg and don't find it sedating at all, which is a little disappointing as my sleep isn't great.

Thanks in advance. x

Could you ask them to put you on something additional to help you sleep?

I've never been on it myself but know people who have. Some find it sedating some don't, you have to remember medication affects people differently.

I've been on it but found the sedation wore off pretty quick. Think I started on 5mg then went up to 15mg then came off it. I've a vague recollection that I came off it because it made me agitated...I take seroquel now and it works a lot better for me. Have you found it affecting your appetite?

I take olanzapine, 15mg. I find that it really helps. It's kept me the most stable for the longest period - I've not been in hospital for almost two years, which is amazing considering I was on and off of section frequently for a good few years.

Down sides are the sedation and weight gain, but for me it's worth it.

It doesn't sedate me at night but I feel it the next morning , I'm on 10mg plus other meds but like Wonderwall said meds affect us all differently.

I'm not currently on it, but when I was found it really helpful with mood related psychosis. (I was on 20mg) I never found it sedating to be honest, but did have problems with weight gain.

Really hope you find it helpful.

Thanks for the replies.

It's affected my appetite quite a bit, I'm hungry all the time. And I'm already on other things to help me sleep but it's nothings really working, I'm too wired I think.
