Glenfield Hospital

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of the glenfield hospital in Leicester as I have been referred there to the mental health unit for gender dysphoria. I've never really seen anyone other then a school councillor before so I have no idea what to expect. My appointment is at the end of August and my friend is getting me to the appointment before she goes to work. I'm still not sure what to expect any advice?

Your guess is as good as mine! Could you try giving them a ring first if you're nervous? I wish you the best of luck x

I personally haven't been there but if it is for a mental health assessment it usually consists of lots of questions about your past and present difficulties, your current situation eg where you live, who with, relationship with friends and family, etc etc. It's mainly just to find out more about you and what has caused you to be referred there. It may involve you filling out questionnaires and/or speaking to someone about everything.

The main thing to remember is to just be as honest and open as you can be. It's understandable to be nervous and wary of it, but I'm sure they will expect that and help you to feel at ease.

I wish you the best of luck, take care xxxx

I've not been to that hospital but I've been through the local psych assessment for gender dysphoria, they will ask you questions about your past, about school, family, your gender from an early age, any physical or mental health problems. it is just an assessment to check there are no underlying mental health problems which could be causing you to think you are trans. it is nothing to worry about, but advice I can give is be honest about everything, they are not trying to catch you out. good luck.
