What is a Supporter?

Hi sorry if this question makes me sound like an idiot but I've seen people refer to supporters and I've been wondering for a while what an RYL supporter is and/or does? I've wread the guide and can't find anything and the only info I've found is about becoming one.
I'm guessing they give support in some form but I don't understand how this is different from what people do when they reply to a thread. Btw I'm not trying to diminish or belittle the role by saying that, I'd just like some clarification.
Thanks.
x

Hi. It's not a silly question, as the Supporters are a bit elusive. It's just a group of members from the site who make sure that threads are replied to (particularly threads with few replies), answer the emails, and man Live Help (when it works). You can read more about it here.

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Ah thanks for clearing that up :)
Sorry I didn't find that page before asking but this is the same person who's been here for 4 months and only realized there was a picture forum a few days ago hah.
Thanks again.

If it makes you feel any better, I was here 10 years before I found out how to change thread titles lol.

The supporters are Anon so that they arent bombarded with PMs on both the forum and in chat when they are 'off duty.'

There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.

It shows up on people's profiles when they are a supporter.

Yes, but we try to keep it fairly under wraps because, like Liv said, people get bombarded with PMs once it's known they're a Supporter, and we'd much rather they came through the email system. It's important to remember that the Supporters are ordinary members too, they do get sick, they do have personal lives, and they are not professionals who work 9-5 and then go home.

I do agree with all of that, I was just adding to the info that has been given so far. :)
