Self Help for BPD

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently struggling with BPD, and at the moment I'm really down, like not washing, barely functioning kind of down. I recently got a criminal record for ,y rage outbursts and have had to give up drinking, which I'm finding really difficult.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew of any tips or self help books or sites or anything to get my life back on track. I'm trying really hard but I'm just lacking the motivation to live my life at the moment.

Basically I just need some help, or pointing in the right direction or something to help...

ANyone have any ideas??

Love and hugs, Pappi xx

Sorry to hear that you are struggling so much.

Are you receiving any professional support at the moment?

'Cause I'll always remember you the same.

I have a psychotherapist who I normally see weekly: she is on holiday at the moment.

And I see my CMHT and have a CC - but they are useless and don't do anything. I feel like I just really need some extra support or something. :( x x

Have you tried the site www.dbtselfhelp.com for DBT exercises? I'm looking at it just now and it seems quite easy to follow. There are also books like DBT for Dummies. Resources like that might offer a 'toolbox' of skills to use in your day-to-day life.

I agree, I was going to suggest DBT self-help books, some can be a bit overwhelming but worth a look even if you only do some parts. What part about BPD are you struggling with the most? It might also be a good idea to do some mindfulness exercises (mindfulness is part of DBT) and there are some excellent self-help books for that, too.

This one has some DBT exercises in it

(but if you're looking to buy i think it is cheaper here).
I actually have this book, I stupidly bought the large text version so it's a giant pain to read so I haven't read it much!

Maybe reading inspirational stories would be good for you too, in regards to your motivation?
