living in theraputic community

hello there
I am sad now because mum and my stepdad think that I should go live in a theraputic community for a while and I'm scared. At first I thought it would be good to get away but now I'm not so sure, all is very scary.

I'm seeing my doc in a couple of hours to discuss it.

See what your doc says and speak to as many people as you can about it. It may be scary as hell and it may sound daunting and all but if in the long run it will benefit you then go for it. I dont know anything about them so i cant offer much advice but we will support you with whatever decision you make

Hi Hammy! I think a theraputic community might help, but it also depends if you think it would. Maybe if you're confused you could make a list of pros and cons, that helps me sometimes.

Anyway, I still think you're awesome whatever you decide.

I live in an institution for young mentally ill and it's really not that bad..... You'll make new friends and there'll be someone to talk to almost all the time. I really enjoy living here although, like you, i was very sceptic in the beginning but after about 6 months here i fell into the routine and now i wish i never had to move away, LOL....

Personally Hammy, i think you would benefit from it. If you have any questions please just ask away and i'll try to answer the best i can!!!

it could be a good experience find out more about it

Hey Hammy
Hugs you,
I know it sounds a scary step to take, the thought of living in a theraputic community. I ve never been in one myself, but im sure if you talk to your doc about what it involves and what it would be like, then you will have a beter understanding. Its normal to have the feelings you have right now.

Its something new and im sure there will be some good things you will experience from it, please let us know how you get on and what you think.

we are all here for you Hammy , and care alot about you.

take care
Dave

hey hammy,
Its ok for you to be scared about going to a theraputic community, it means chaning your whole way of life and change can be hard.
I have been to a few Inpatient units but the best place i went to was a theraputic community...i left two years ago and although i have had my ups and downs, im better than i was. I felt understood and cared for and although there were tough times, i dont regret going.
Its your decision and only you know whats best for you.
If you need anything or want to pm me i dont mind.
Lots of love

updated theraputic community

I saw the doc and the plan is that I go to visit this place with my mum and therapist to see what it is like, what the rooms are like and everything. Aparantly it has a garden and a pond.

Oh hunni. Well done on getting the help.
Please try to go into it with an open mind.
It might help you greatly. It might provide that extra support.
And you might meet some incredible people.
Its ok to be scared. And you are bound to be nervous.
But hunni you are doing so well.
Take care
Kim
