As you know I currently have depression, but is it normal to not feel hugs and cuddles like I used to. My boyfriend can cuddle and hug me as much as he likes and being a big chap he's like cuddling a huge gigantic teddy bear. But at the moment i mentally cannot feel any of his cuddles etc and same goes for family and friends. I trust him with all my heart it's just mentally I feel nothing/numb inside.
It sounds like it could be a sign of the depression, often when we are depressed it can be quite common for some of our emotions to shut down and to be left feeling empty and numb. Are you receiving any treatment for your depression?
"Recovery is something that you have to work
on every single day and it's
something that doesn't
get a day off."
Like Kat said it can be very common to feel numb and isolated, like nothing on the outside is really getting through if that makes sense? When you are very depressed you do (sorry for echoing Kat again) shut down emotionally, and it is very hard to pull yourself out of on your own.
If you are not already receiving treatment I would recommend that you go and see your GP or any other professional who you are currently seeing.
Please take care, I hope that you start to feel better soon, I know from personal experience how horrible this can feel. But I also know what the other side is like, don't give up it's worth it. x
I am recieving treatment for it but its not working i don't feel any better, my mood is pernamently low and i feel like I am in a loosing battle right now and theres only one place i want to be right now and thats with my nanny pat. There's not much fight in me (: im mentally and emotionally drained (:
What kind of treatment are you receiving? Counselling, medication etc? If you are trying medication it can take awhile to find the right one or for it to start working effectively.
I do know that it can seen completely hopeless and pointless but do you think that you could start doing something positive for yourself each day? I'm not sure what you are currently doing, and some of this may sound silly but anything that might make you feel even a tiny but better is worth a try right? It can be as small and simple as you like, just something that you enjoy or has brought you joy in the past. Try for going for a short walk? If that is too much, watch a movie to distract yourself, call a friend, check out this. I suggest these things because if you find something small to take your mind off how you are feeling for even a minute it can help. Constantly thinking about being drained can actually make you more tired if that makes any sense? Kind of like you look ahead when you're driving/walking, and that's where you end up. Thinking negatively will only lead you more into depression and feeling hopeless. Please don't think that I am in any way blaming you for feeling like you do, it is not your fault I'm just trying to help you to see that there is a way out of feeling like this that is not suicide.
I hope that you can hold onto and build on the fight that is still in you and regain some of your strength.
I do all these actvivties and physically I am feeling completely different im exercising a lot to help me deal with it and i distract my mind a lot on other actviites like using my computer but deep down i know they temporary fix to make me feel better but day to day coping has become too much for me to take.
i tend to believe in the more i push my body the way i can deal with problems by pushing them aside.
Have you ever confused a dream with life? Or stolen something when you have the cash? Have you ever been blue? Or thought your train moving while sitting still? Maybe I was just crazy. Maybe it was the 60's. Or maybe I was just a girl... interrupted.
I know what it's like to want to die. How it hurts to smile. How you try to fit in but you can't. How you hurt yourself on the outside to try to kill the thing on the inside. I tried groups, didn't work out just made my depression a lot worse.
Hey, im not really sure what to say.
But just wanted you to know that i understand completely how you feel.
When my depression is worst i can go through periods where even the thought of a hug or someone touching me kind of repulses me. so i try to avoid it, because when i have a hug/cuddle from anyone i dont feel it at all and i feel nothing.
Its definitely linked to the depression, so i guess for this to get better the depression has to get better. Also i've found that though this may go on for quite a while there are usually breaks, so if you do find yourself suddenly feeling like a hug get all the hugs you can get!

...My smile's just the armour I built when I was alone...
There was some part of me that hurt so badly, that I wouldn't ever be able to forget it.
It faded but the memories could bring it back any second, keeping me in the moment.
It would never fully heal. I could never really be free. I could never really be fixed. Now I just have to work out how to live whilst being broken.
I feel like I'm dying.
I'm also getting clingy, i.e iwas with my boyfriend on a friday and he was about to drop me home and we had just stopped to get some fags (for himself) a cup of tea, packet of polos and petrol and i wouldn't let him out of his on car to put air in the wheels. it my mind i was thinking he was gonna abandon me and leave me stranded on the a127 (dual carrage way)so i clung on to him with all my strength. The same goes with when my parents walk the dog. (teddy) then could go for fifteen minutes and to post a letter and my head's thinking of wcs (worst case scenario) I will definitely mention this to my psych dr the next time i see (Wednesday)

I don't have much advice right now, but i just wanted to reassure you that although these feelings can be absolutely terrible and it may seen hopeless, they will not last forever. Please try to hold onto that thought x
I will definitely try to hold on to that thought i have managed almost a full day without feeling depressed and feeling like dogs **** even though I havent had any meds since Thursday as they run out and i cannot get a prescription till i get an appointment x

It's good that you felt a little bit better even if it was only for part of the day. Hold on to that hope that things will get better. Can you not ring and try to get an emergency appointment? As it's not good if you have run out of meds

I have spoken to my gp and pysch and now back on my meds, okay it's resulted in a few bad things happening (:

Basically when I was off the meds a few days ago my mood and things worsened to the point i tried commit sui twice in one day. Somehow I had convinced myself that staying alive wasnt worth it and that nobody would miss me. (; i don't know why i felt like it, but it happened.

Yes I have, I had various friends in the past push me aside, ignore me and never answer the calls and texts. I have been dumped various times in london and elsewhere. So i get scared the same thing is gonna happen again x

The fear of abandonment is a hard one, especially when you have been hurt before in the past. You have to try and remember that their are good people out there though who will stick by you. Hopefully the new meds will help. Do you know why you felt suicidal? Are you recieving extra support from your treatment team? Keep fighting, you will get through this. Take care

i guess the stress from various things in my life and i couldnt handle it anymore (; I sort of convinced myself I am better off dead. I couldn't mentally convince myself that life was worth living.

Would you like to talk about what's stressing you out? Sometimes just talking through it can help. I know when things are tough it can be hard to see a reason to keep living but you can get through this. There is always hope. Let us know if you need anything
