aripiprazole
So next tuesday I have an appointment with my original psych, after she has come back from long term sick leave. In january I had a multi displiniary meeting and my psych I am seeing next week was there. One of the outcomes of the meeting was that I would change my olanzapine 20mg to aripiprazole, as the olanzapine had made me gain quite a lot of weight, but the crisis team psych didn't want to do it then, but wait until I had an outpatient appointment with my psych.
is it easier to lose weight on aripiprazole as supposed to olanzpine?
does it make you feel really hungry a few hours after you have taken it?
I know the crisis team psych said it doesn't cause weight gain, which is good and also it doesn't make you so tired, because I am exhausted all the time on the olanzapine.
So yeah anyone on aripiprazole can let me know what it is like for you. I realise everyone is different, but just to have something to go on.

I was on aripiprazole for a while. It made me terribly restless, but I lost weight on it rather than gain anything. It didn't increase my appetite at all. It didn't make me tired - it made me very awake.
Good luck with it. I hope it helps you. *hug*

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.

I was only on it for a really short time, but I didn't notice an appetite change. It made me jittery and claustrophobic since I live in a small apartment and don't have ways to get places, but I didn't really gain any useful energy. It also made my paranoia worse, and my voices angry. I've heard that the jitteryness can go away if you can wait it out. Then again I've heard the opposite too. My stomach couldn't tolerate it as well.
I'm sure others will have better insight since I was only on it for a little bit.

Made me really restless. So restless I had to come off it because I was just awake for days at a time and it was interfering with my life. It was horrid.
By coming off olanzapine and going onto aripiprzol you may fine you have several weeks were you cannot sleep properly because one is a sedative med and the other is an activating med.
I personally wouldn't go on it again because the physical side effects were just too awful but it did work really well for my psychosis and got me mentally well enough to get discharged from my section so that's always a positive to keep in mind.

It was a really good mood stabiliser for me and didn't make me put on any weight what so ever. I think it made me less hungry to be honest.
Hope it goes well for you x
