Lily Allen/Cooper to slaughter a pig for Comic Relief and send a follower the bacon

What do people think of this?

Stuff for Comic Relief is normally funny or comedic or silly, which this isn't, but otherwise I don't really see a problem with it. Pigs get slaughtered all the time, and as long as it's done correctly I don't see the issue.

Well she already owns a pig farm I think where pigs get killed, so its not like she plucked the idea out of no where!

I'm sure it will be done properly. But I think the highest bidder will spare it!

It's not going to highest bidder any more, it's going to be random, which is definitely fairer.

I understand that the pig would be killed anyway, I just think it's a rather strange way to make money!

The way I read it she's not actually slaughtering it? She's just going to name a pig from her farm. And then send meat from that pig to the winner. The pig will be slaughtered anyway so what's the fuss?

And if she does kill it herself then good on her! In my opinion you shouldn't eat meat if you are not comfortable with where it comes from.

Oh, for goodness sake. I wonder how many of the people outraged by this are perfectly happy to *eat* pork or bacon? It infuriates me, how reticent people seem to be to admit where their food actually comes from. Like all this silly horsemeat "scandal" nonsense!

I personally don't like the idea but I'm a strict vegetarian / vegan I think there are better ways to raise money without slaughtering animals.
That's just my opinion

I think this is absolutely ridiculous and typical Lily Allen - tasteless, tacky, attention seeking and not funny.

I am a vegetarian but regardless, I agree with Lotty, why do you have to put the bacon up for charity? Why not sell some of her clothes/handbags or some other materialistic thing... I get that the animal will be slaughtered anyway, which I dont agree with either, but there are better ways to raise money.

The idea of killing a pig doesn't bother me - I eat pork, so obviously it'd be silly to mind that.

I do think the idea is quite weird though.

Watch the sunrise all alone
Sitting on the tracks
Hear the train come roaring in
Never coming back

Laying quiet in the grass
Everything is still
River stones and broken bones
Scattered on the hill

Weird idea, but if it makes money for a good cause and that pig would get slaughtered reguardless, it doesnt seem like a deal at all.

Everyone seems so outraged in the comments there. I'm really confused!
The pig would be killed anyway if not for the fundraiser. I don't see why it's a problem using it as a way to raise money. (Although weird!)
I guess people don't like to be reminded where their delicious sausages come from...

^this. It doesn't surprise me at all that it was printed in the Daily Mail...

If we brush all other issues aside and look at the heart of the matter, something is being killed for Comic Relief. For me, this is not okay. What's next, some airhead celebrity flying out to a country with the death penalty and getting people to donate money to decide who they most want to be executed?

She should just kill herself and do us all a favour... oh I forgot, if we're talking about a person it's out of line =/

Lol. The very definition of the slippery slope fallacy.

Does Comic Releif not fund child prostitution anyway?

Well to apply Lily's "our pigs were always going to be slaughtered" logic, most children are always going to have sex. Too far?

Source?

There are a lot of issues and controversies with Comic Relief (as there are with most organisations of that size), but I've not heard anything about that.

I completely agree with you. I understand that the pig is being killed anyway (and I don't eat meat, so I disagree with that in the first place) but essentially she is raising money for the slaughter of an animal.

Comic Relief's slogan or whatever you want to call it is "do something funny for money" personally, I don't see anything funny about naming a pig and then murdering it so someone can have some bacon from Lily Allen...
