The say here/get off your chest thread

Can we please have it unlocked now?

I would find it most useful and i think in having it closed people will have learned their lessons.

Thank you kindly.

Yep, lesson learned. Apparantly, not even supportive replies are allowed! I just thought it was chit chat that wasn't.

Agreed. Apart from the one misunderstanding Jodie had, there were absolutely no conversations that even occurred after the first warning, so I think we pretty much learned our lessons from the warning Liv gave, and definitely from it being closed!

I have only used it a couple of times, but I have found it useful, and clearly many many people benefited from it.

I'm bored of bumping my RV thread with just general, non-specific woe.

In fairness, there have been repeated warnings by moderators, and the thread was previously locked once before (October).

In addition, the thread seems to have deviated from it's original purpose and tends to just be used for discreetly bitching at or about other members. I'm incredibly glad it's closed and personally I hope it stays closed permenantly.

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

I think that's a bit unfair Soph, I know many members use the thread for it's designed puporse. And in the past many members used the thread for bitching too, and when they were caught out they were dealt with and punished for it; instead of punishing every member who may want to post there.

In my opinion, if people are bitching in that thread then they should be banned from posting in there. Not closing it so other members can't use it.

roseblue, yes it was the chit chat, replying to other members left some other members out. I got this and understand this but I think it's been closed long enough.

There were repeated warnings and there have been ever since it was temporarily closed for the same reason in October. As it was closed before for the same reason and yet people still weren't listening to that its likely it will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Giving warnings was leniency on my part as it should have been closed straight away this time.

It is unfortunate that everyone has to suffer.

But there is no way of proving its bitching about other members
It Really pisses me off when I post something, then get a PM form somebdoy going Oh, that's flaming. you're gunna get points'or 'you should delete that' or whatever when the post actually has NOTHING to do with RYL.

Some are horrifically obvious, and they should get points/warnings/what ever.

But asusming the vast majority are flaming is annoying

Then why not then ban the people who have been ignoring the warnings given?

A week is a long time without a place you're used to.

I thought that the closure in October was due to bitching/flaming, not conversations and supportive replies? In fact I remember it well, because I was the one who told Charlie the background of the two flaming wars that were going on.

Last time it was a month, and there was an announcement saying closed for a month while you all think about your behaviour. Then the two arguments occurring cooled off, and it was reopened and it was fine. Then this new 'issue' arose, which was quite separate and more relating to me, Lana and Conor having banter, and people giving supporting replies to eachother. Like, if someone posts about how they're going to off themselves, someone might reply saying "Hope you're OK, stay strong".

The thread has already been the source of issues in the past.

No Im not saying its not a long time if you use it, what I am saying is that if a thread has already been closed before for a longer period of time then its very unlikely that it would be reopened after a shorter amount of time now.

I stand by everything I originally said when you posted that warning, but I'm happy to to back down on that argument and never quote a post in that thread again or have a joke or offer support if it means that people get back their area to let off steam.

Fine, whatever. What I meant was that it was closed for issues and this time there has been veiled flaming as well as general chatting, it just happened to be that I warned people about general chatting at the time.

Im aware of the issues surrounding it and its not something you really need to drag into this thread.

But veiled flaming happens everywhere, it's really not exclusive to that thread. RVs are full of it. And to be honest, now I just have conversations with people in my RVs which is more time-consuming but I still do it. And hardcore say-here-ers have just made say here RVs, so the only people really suffering are the people who were infrequent say here visitors using the thread for its intended purpose. Which kind of sucks. I'd love there to be an open discussion about making some rules for the say here thread, but again, I'd be happy to go along with whatever rules the mods wanted if it meant it got opened again.

Oh! And a very good point was made about PMing or texting people instead of replying on the thread, and I've been doing that with great success with RVs and the new fake say here thread, so I for one will be much less tempted to reply to people in the say thread if it is reopened.
