Panicking and wondering and all.....
Okay so I've been to the doctors and had a test, for depression and anxiety,
She didn't say much but I think my results were something about having moderate depression, when I saw the doctor she gave me a referral to therapy and the antidepressant Fluoxetine, I've been taking it (10mg as I'm under 18) for a week and already seem to feel a bit better? I'm sort of worrying because I don't think it should be working so fast should it?
I still get the same sort of feelings/thoughts but I feel kind of, cheerier around people? Can anyone explain this to me? Because I definitely have been depressed the past month but one week into treatment I feel slightly better, is this a side effect or something or is it actually just working quicker in me than everyone else?!
Please help guys as I'm unsure and a bit worried it might be something sinister :/
I'm tempted to stop taking the medication to see what happens...

Hey there,
When I first went on a similar antidepressant sertraline, I too felt slightly more optimistic during the first week of treatment. Do you think that it might be because you have support now, so you just feel generally better about things? It's quite unlikely that it is already working, but it is possible. The time it takes for the effects to be felt varies a lot in people, from 2 weeks to 4 weeks usually, but can be more or less. I don't think it's any cause for concern unless you feel 'too' happy or manic, which it doesn't seem like you are, but you can always give your GP / therapist a call if you'd like some more information about it. There's no harm in asking :)
Take care <3

Hey,
Im soooo pleased that its taken effect this quickly! It can work quite quickly anything from a few days to 6/8 weeks to take full effects. Hopefully as time goes on it will still work even better and they wont have to adjust your dosage. Everyone is different and reacts differently to medication. Fingers crossed that this is the right medication for you!
Like Holly said; could it be that now you have support you feel slightly better that your not alone and your not fighting this alone?

It's good that it has started to take effect, everyone is different in terms of how long it takes to work. I think it can take a week up to six-eight weeks to start to feel the effect. Don't stop taking it, as the benefits might increase even more for you over time. It's good your getting support too. Take care

Sorry guys, I think it was mainly because I've got support and help now, my moods are just a bit all over the place at the mo, but thanks for the reassurance, I'm seeing the doc 5th march so soon see how I'm doing and that x
