is your work allowed to phone your parents

hiya i am currently not sleeping and a bit depressed at the minute, k currently work with horses and im getting cash in hand not going through the books, my work has worked out that i am not sleeping at all and i live on site they told me to go to the doctor which i can understand why but i dont get it why they phoned my parents to tell them that im depressed i am 24 years old not 16

that is pretty unusual I think, but as it's cash in hand, presumably without a written contract, I doubt there's a lot you can do about it, aside from expressing your dissatisfaction to your manager and to request that they don't do that in future.

How did your parents react?

they werent too bad about it my mum reacted in a bad mood had a fight with her and my dad was like im needing to talk to you we had someone on the phone about you but i denied it, i could try that

Hmm, do you think perhaps it might be more helpful for them to know? Perhaps they'd be able to offer you some support?

Perhaps they'd take it better if they heard it from you, and you spoke to them at a time when they were both calm and relaxed, as it sounds like their negative reactions were more out of shock than anything else.

they found out as wednesday my work phonrd saying that i wasnt in but i was and my dad told them about self harm, and they know about it but my dad told lies to me and i am furois it wasnt my work it was in my family

sorry, no it was just a cover up story to protect someone in my family
its gone bad to worse slightly

Heya work should not have phoned your parents, you are an adult not a child or young teenager. They should of kept it confidential x
