Asus Laptop Charger Charges In Intervals?
Ok, so i just got this new, or well refurbished, ASUS gaming laptop.
All work well with the laptop except the power charger.
The issue: It charges in intervals. I'll get about a 10-15 minutes worth of a charge (anywhere from 5-15% battery life) then it just stops charging. At first i unplugged and plugged back in immediately but that didn't work. I found that I have to unplug it for at least 5 minutes then plug it back in for it to work.
Possible problem: I believe the brick part of the charger is getting too hot and stops drawing power from the outlet via my surge protector. I've tried putting it in my mini fridge, didn't help. I currently have it on my laptop cooling pad propped up so i could get some air flow but that didnt work either, it just stopped charging as before.
It automatically goes to battery and i can't think of what else could be causing this problem. I have the power option set to 'power saver' so it's using the least amount of power possible but it still stops. It just stopped right now but the brick isn't even very hot.
So i'm not sure if it's a heating issue, something defective in the cord itself or maybe it's the laptop?
Any suggestions, quick fixes or should i take it in and let a professional technician diagnose?
I plan to buy a new charger to see if i have the same results, until then, i'm trying to see what i can do now to prevent it from stop charging.
