hypnotherapy?

Has anyone ever had hypnotherapy? I have recently been considering it, whereas previously I wouldn't have done.
If you have had it, what were your experiences? I don't want it to be a waste of time / money.

Thanks xx

I don't have any experiences myself but I have a close friend who went through a time of it and found it quite helpful but for various reasons had to stop.

I think it's good you're considering this, it really shows you're willing to try to get better :)

It's the ups and downs of living life this way. Promise me you'll never go away. Just stay with me through one more night because it's always darkest before the light and now I promise you I'll never turn away. I won't let you give us one less heart to break...

I've thought about it, and got as far as having an 'assessment' appointment for it, but the lady couldn't do it because of my diagnosis. It's something I would definitely consider if my psychiatrist ok'd it. I think it's great you're considering it as an option, and, if you do try it, hope it helps.

I had hypnotherapy when I was 15, so a good while ago now!

I don't really know that it actually 'helped' anything specifically - I had hypnotherapy because I was very anxious, and I still have anxiety now! But it did help at the time because I was very anxious and tense and stressed and it gave me time to just relax a bit, if that makes sense? And in that sense it kind of helped because it helped me learn to just take time to relax sometimes, which I think is still helpful.

I am very cynical about things like that, I was very cynical about it and I don't really 'believe' in all that sort of thing. But however it works, it did get me into a relaxation state so that certainly wasn't a bad thing!

I had it on the recommendation of our asst. headteacher at my secondary school though - he had it to help him stop smoking and said it helped him a lot, and he had another member of his family who had used it for various things and also found it helpful. So I know there are people who find it really helps.

Sorry if this is a bit of a ramble - but if you do decide to try it, remember you can always just give it a go for one session. If you come out of there thinking it's not for you, you don't have to go back. Good luck either way! x
