Why do people sometimes put xxxxx or x or <3 at the end of their posts or texts?
PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.
xxxxx is supposed to be kisses, and <3 is like a heart (tilt your head to the right).
I never put 'x's and a lot of people know not to put them when they text me, but I always put <3 because amongst my friends it's acceptable to say that we love eachother (in a friend way of course!).
A lot of people just automatically end stuff like that, and I'm not sure if it's only me that has 'issues' around such things, but I'm a lot more careful about choosing when to put a heart at the end of a message!
Both are a sign of affection, although as Jenna (the person above me) said, some people don't like the kisses, or the hearts (personally I'm not big on the kisses I don't really like them, but I will use them sometimes in texts and other messages as I know some people get offended if I don't, because they interpet this as me not liking them as much as they like me, or that I'm angry with them).

Oh and I thought this was going to be another "I love you all!!" thread!
Haha seriously though, yeah, whats been said above.
I put kisses quite a lot. On here I've done if I've written support or a support thread, but I guess I don't think of them as kisses, more just something nice to close a message
Now I've confused myself as to why I even use them!!

I'd forgotten about this added complication in the world of putting kisses at the end of texts! It must be a hard life trying to remember who will be offended if you use them, who will be offended if you don't, and who will be offended if you don't use the right amount :p
I recently accidentally put an x at the end of a text to you Jenna, and as soon as I sent it I was like...oops!
I find x's are good for making things sound less harsh.
Like saying something quite blunt to someone via text and putting an x at the end to show you weren't being nasty.
I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

No kidding, it is the biggest trial of my texting/PMing life!

MORTIFIED.
Just realised when you PM'd me a while back I ended it with "all the best xxx"
I'm so sorry!!!!

Lol Beckie, despite my NPD I don't expect my wishes to be at the forefront of your mind ALL the time, so I shall let you off :P
And I use emoticons instead of kisses for that very purpose, but unfortunately I then start feeling the need to ensure I end every sentence with smileys and it gets a bit out of hand...

Oh bless, don't worry, you weren't to know! And I kind of can't call people on it anyway, as I'm already really picky about terms of affection, so I let the kisses go to prevent people hating me for my very strict communication rules :p
Oops, I didn't realise some people didnt like it! I'm forever putting kisses on texts and sometimes on support posts :/ Sorry Jenna, I know I've put kisses on your PMs too. It's just me though, I just automatically put them.
You can't lose hope when it's hopeless.
You gotta hope more,
then put your fingers in your ears and go,
"Blah blah blah blah!"

Lol, I actually have a system for how many x's I put on texts, etc. People who are close to me know that they've annoyed me if I don't put them on. Awkward when I've just not put them on because I'm really busy/texting quickly though!

Yes, your communication rules are strict. Ceeb for trying not to put x's on texts as well as remembering not to call you certain terms.
I did get a <3 this morning though, so I feel privileged!
o_O I am so busy ignoring the xxs I never notice how many you do Luce. I shall be vigilant from now on! Inspecting previous texts, you always put two on texts to me. I wonder what this means in your system...
Also, I can't help that I have issues :'( As a fun fact, the one and only time I ever put an x on a text was as a dare in a text to Kia (high.hopes). She should feel exceptionally privileged.
I really was touched, as you didn't know me that well, but had read somewhere that I didn't like it and specifically didn't put them in a PM to me. *strokes your NPD*
I put x's at the end of everything and I dont bother trying to remember whos alright with it and who isnt because its not like its in real life and Im trying to kiss them everytime I say anything.
There are times to stay put, and what you want will come to you.
But there are times to go out into the world and find such a thing for yourself.
I aint no abacus but you can count on me.
