Contains alcohol - Problem

How do you go about getting help for alcoholism? I'm certain i've got a problem with it. I get withdrawal symptoms like clammy skin, minor (occasional) shakes etc and i can feel that i'm doing damage to my insides.
I can go a days without it but once i start i can't stop.
For example, yesterday I had 4 cans watching a football match, then went pub with my mates (both of whom also drink to excess) for what was meant to be a quiet one before going to watch a film.
I remember drinking another 5 pints and 3 double vodka and cokes then i woke up fully clothed in my bed with no memory of what happened after.
Spoke with one of my mates earlyer (he didn't drink too much yesterday) and he reckons we went back to my other mates house and we all had another 4 cans each and several spliffs before i staggered home.
This kind of **** goes on far too often. I get pissed on average 3 times a week, and generally i have 1 blackout every 6-8 weeks. Last time i blacked out i woke up naked next to something that didn't even look human and it was trying to have sex with me again!
A fiver year relationship my ex ended after my drunken antics on a family holiday. I've got many stories i could tell.
Tl:dr. i'm an alcoholic, do i just go to the doctor and say i have a problem?

In short, yes.

It sounds like you do have a problem, but being able to acknowledge it is a hugely positive step. I think seeking advice from a doctor would be an excellent idea. They will be best able to inform you of relevant services in your area to help you get started beating this addiction.

Best of luck!

Most alcoholics have a lot of stories. On average alcoholics ruin 7 relationships with people. Relationships ie. Lovers, friends, family anything. I think if I tally mine up, I'm at 5 or 6. You can goto a doctor say you have a drinking problem. Yo can get antabuse. They got pills for the craving. Their also going to tell u to goto alcohol groups, and therapist. Just a fyi.

I think it is really positive that you have realised you have a problem, this is the first step in getting better. Going to a doctor would be helpful as they will be able to refer you to the appropriate support services available. Also you might want to check out this page on the NHS website as it has some helpful information on where you can go to get some extra support. Take care
