Back to therapy?

So i've been free from self harming for roughly a year and a half, I used to go to CAMHS to see both a therapist and psychiatrist, I got too old for the system and all treatments stopped there.

I was ok with that and just got on with my life but now things are going downhill. My boyfriend thinks I should see my doctor and get referred back to therapy but i'm not sure, therapy didn't seem to help me the first time round, partly because I don't think I was ready to talk.

I don't feel as depressed as I was but I do have moments where I feel quite down and sometimes I sort of rocket from being really happy then suddenly crying or angry.

I also feel a lot more stressed now that i've gone back to college and have assignments to do.

I'm not really sure what to do, i've never really talked about my problems before and the thought of going to the doctors does kind of scare me, i'd probably have to write things down for them because i'd probably freeze up.

Anyway sorry I rambled there, any thoughts?

I'm hurting inside but I hide behind my smile.

I would go to your GP, they may be able to offer something different if you feel therapy didn't work, or maybe this time you may be ready to talk if you had therapy. It is ok to write things down, I often write things down for professionals as I can clam up when speaking to them.

You might as well give it a go and see what the GP says? :) There are a lot of other options than therapy, and lots of different types of therapy. Good luck :)

I guess what strikes me is that things aren't great at the moment and if you get help now then you may stop things getting worse and that would be worthwhile.
