So sad. I always liked jessops and bought my first slr camera from there when I was at art school. There was a jessops near the art school and was WELL used by most of the students. Staff were always very knowledgeable and helpful.
agreed. I do buy things online, but with something like a camera, I prefer to have it there and then and handle it before handing any cash over. And yes, i am aware how that sounds.

Really gutted about this, it's so sad to see stores you've grown up with disappearing from the high street. I wonder if in a few decades time, we'll even have shops at all!
I hate shopping online, I'd rather see the products first than be disappointed when they arrive.
I'm going to make a stark prediction here... This year, Jessops and Play.com have gone under (well, play.com is now just a market place and stopped their retail section) and I'm going to predict who is going next either this year or next....

^ Yeh, HMV got a boost when they sold Waterstones but I don't know how much longer they're realistically going to be on the high street. Or Waterstones for that matter. It's really sad to hear about companies like Jessops. A friend of my brother's has worked there for over a decade
And the illusion of love is the only promise of defence, and even that will crumble.
I'll be really sad if/when HMV goes. We go in there when we can afford it to get some DVD's and I like to buy the actual CD rather than downloading. I'd really miss it :(
I walked past jessops today, all the staff were in there packing everything away and were only answering the door to camera repair pick ups and photo printing pick ups. I feel sorry for them, I've been in that position and know how horrific it is. Hopefully the employees will find work soon!
I'm rather sad about Jessops as I got my camera nick nacks in there when I could afford it, as someone else said I guess it'll be all online now. I'll also be sad if HMV and Waterstones go as I enjoy both.

The situation with both Jessops and HMV is pretty sad really. I've seen some people on sites and such saying things like "yes but when did you last shop in HMV honestly?" I must be really old fashioned or something, but I still go in HMV a fair bit. I think they always have really interesting and unusual books I might not find otherwise, and even though I'm trying hard not to buy any more games and DVD's recently so that I can have space to actually manoeuvre in my room, I still buy those sort of things from there since I find it decently priced.
Just remembered the last time I went to HMV was when I dragged half the RYL Manchester meet there
