losing weight
Has anyone tried to lose weight whilst taking seroquel, and/or an antidepressant (im on moclobemide).
I've gained so much weight since being on antidepressants and more when i started seroquel, i tried to lose weight a few times but nothings ever changed, i've just gotten fatter.
Has anyone had trouble with losing weight on these medications or anything similar? i really want to lose some weight.
thanks

I'm on olanzapine which has made me gain a lot of weight, I've just started to actively try to lose weight with healthy eating and more exercise, but I'm only one day into it so can't comment if it is working.

I lost weight on ADs but as soon as I started Quetiapine (Seroquel) I gained it all back plus more. It increased my appetite so I found and still am finding it hard to lose weight. I doubt it's impossible, I suppose having a healthy balanced diet and along with exercise, you should see results and if not mention it to your Psych.

There are adjunct medications that encourage weight loss through appetite suppression or similar mechanisms.
Your GP was missing the point completely. I put on a double figure number of kilos on Olanzapine and I generally eat healthily (and I'm vegetarian), and I exercise when I'm not unwell (right now I'm struggling with mental health and I keep having seizures so I can't go to the gym). It is not as simple as eating healthily.
I would say a *combination* of diet, exercise and an adjunct medication would help. But then I'm not a doctor so the best thing would be is to research this and then go and ask your psychiatrist about making a plan to help you lose weight.
I found that weightlifting helped redistribute my weight gain. My biceps are much larger than they used to be, and my thighs are bigger, but it's all muscle.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.
I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I am on serquel and I am currently trying to loose the weight I have gain on it. It is hard because of the increased appitite. But the serquel does help my mental health so I'm trying hard to stick with it even if I stay this heavy.
Somthing else I have found difficult is that serquel makes me lathargic in the morning so I can often just sit around all day because I'm tired and when your trying to loose weight and increase activity levels that is hard.
I'm am loosing the weight with the support of my mh team and my partner which is helping me to stay motivated and stops me from taking the weight loss too far, or becoming too obsessive.
Maybe ask your team and family for their support?
