Do you have to be really sick to go in patient?

i was forced into it but there were other girls in their and they werent all really sick some were at normal weight
some were total oppsite some were in their because they though it was effeting their everyday life like family friend relationships
u dont have to be real sick
but some places u really have to prove u are willing to work 100%
because funding is normally tight and they dont just give it away to anyone

Just because people are at a healthy weight doesn't mean they are not really sick.

'Cause I'll always remember you the same.

I'd say everyone inpatient is sick.
Really sick? There are different degrees of everything.

Inpatient is generally used as a last resort for those whose health is at danger, or who haven't responded to community treatment. There are risks to being inpatient; institutionalisation, picking up more bad habits, taking on a "sick role" etc, disruption to career/education/family etc so it's not a decision to be taken lightly.

If you are unfit for the level of care below IP (if you are using behaviors to the point where you are unsafe for the community and need the constant supervision) & in the case of IP places in the US, you are typically medically unstable (unstable vitals, labs, weight [though people at all weights are can be admitted, as they can still be just as sick as somebody at a low weight]), as resi or partial is where people who are medically stable but still need constant supervision for behaviors go.

So, yes, to be IP you do need to be sick. But sick mentally & physically. Resi/partial/IOP is more suitable for people who are medically stable, yet mentally unstable.

I wanna stay inside all day
I want the world to go away

People with ED's can be very physically unwell at a normal weight as well. x

This

Also just want to add that I went IP for my ED at a healthy weight and when I arrived I was told that if I didn't stay that I was likely to die in the next few weeks. I was sent to a medical ward first for stabilisation.
I was extremely physically unwell and a normal weight.
I spent the first week mostly unconscious an was not allowed to attend and OT groups for the first month I was there because I was just too sick. There were emaciated girls who came in the same week as me and they were allowed to attend groups form the first week of admission.
I was admitte due to my poor psychical condition rather that my state of mind. Although I was diagnosised with other mental health problems while there.

Weight, sometimes, had nothing to do with it. Or at least it didnt in my case.
Don't let people fool you that you have to be "skinny" to have a serious ED.

I have dyslexia so please excuse my poor spelling and sometimes poor understanding.
