... when you're clearing out things, sorting and tidying, and you get rid of a whole lot of stuff, but you still appear to have more than you had before?

I've not finished yet, either... 2 bookcases to go - one small, and one large - that has a heck of a lot of stuff behind it. Arrggh... And I've already filled up one of the two wheelie bins and half the recycling wheelie bin. Thankfully they collected the recycling today. They'd better collect the rubbish soon or I'll be in trouble!

I tend to lose steam about three-quarters of the way through when I see that last big push. But cleaning out and getting rid of a lot of unneeded things is a nice feeling. It sounds like you managed to recycle a lot of it too. I don't know about you, but that makes me feel better about throwing away a lot at once.
Maybe you could get something to decorate your clean, neat home, like a potted plant or a print.
