What is the definition of a Veteran on RYL? I've honestly looked at the "Who is Who" thread in the Vet forums and I see mostly people over 18 post there, but there's also "mini-vets" made of 17-year-olds. I was wondering if Veteran status was based on age, how long you've been on RYL, if you have overcome your issues, or a mix. Cause if it's based on age, then, I'm a little bit excited about it then cause I can be considered a mini-vet in about two months and I've seen really interesting threads I wanted to post in in the Veterans' forums, but I'm holding back cause I first off dunno what a RYL Vet is and if I'd be at least a mini-vet soon.

Close your eyes. Don't you cry. Love's around you. In time, you'll fly. Don't you worry about the dark. I will light up the night with the love in my heart. I will burn like the sun that will keep you safe and warm. Like the smell of a rose on a summer's day, I will be there to take all your fears away. With the touch of my hand, I will turn your life to GOLD!

I don't believe there is any strict criteria.

Generally it contains post surrounding topics that affect adults more so than teenagers but if you feel you have something to contribute to a thread I'm sure i will be appreciated.

The Vets corner tends to be for more adult issues; housing, sex, serious relationships, kids, money etc. but there's no real age limit. Generally though this site is made up of a lot of uni students who tend to be the borderline between young members and vet members.

It doesn't matter where you come from; it matters where you go.
No-one gets remembered for the things they didn't do.
We won't all be here this time next year,
so while you can take a picture of us.
We're definitely going to hell,
but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Well, even though I'm sixteen, I'd like to know about what I'll face once I become an adult cause I wanna make sure I can at least have some plans set out for me once I have to go out on my own cause I'd really like to start off with a plan in mind and back up plans if needed, so I don't fail and have to come crying home because I'm honestly sick of home. I wanna be independent once I'm an adult because so far relying on others for me is not making me happy. Perhaps venturing into the Veteran's Corner would be educational for me, no?

It indeed might be useful to look around and get an idea of what challenges you can expect to face in a few years time, not to mention read some of the supportive posts to get an idea of how people deal with those challenges. I'd say it's actually a pretty good idea.

Post where you feel comfortable, but i warn you, becoming a vet means the obligatory wearing of a pink dress and parading your camel about and eating many virtual cookies. I was a vet at 16 when i retired my harming ways, I know a lot especially around the baby thread are youngish - mid twenties.
