Contains illicit drugs - How do you know if you're addicted?
I recently tried marijuana for the first time and I keep thinking about smoking more. I'm scared I may be already addicted. Help?

Close your eyes. Don't you cry. Love's around you. In time, you'll fly. Don't you worry about the dark. I will light up the night with the love in my heart. I will burn like the sun that will keep you safe and warm. Like the smell of a rose on a summer's day, I will be there to take all your fears away. With the touch of my hand, I will turn your life to GOLD!

If you're only thinking about it and not like, oh my god i NEED to have more. Then it shouldn't be too hard to not do it again.
It's a slippery slope with drugs, one day weed will just not do it for you, you get onto harder stuff and then you really are stuck. Doesn't happen to everyone, but it's not worth the risk.
I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!
The day weed stops working is the day I leave the world of drugs. I may have broken promises to myself before, but this promise to myself is one I intend to keep. Thy shall only smoke weed while thy is in the drug world.

It's a world that's difficult to get out of once you're in. Kind of like mental health services, once you're under the radar, it's bloody hard to get off it.
What do you get from it? Does it make you feel good?
I just remember feeling very sleepy then very hungry and very paranoid. Not particularly pleasant.

I've just removed a whole load of posts that were discussing drugs rather than offering support.
This is not the thread for that!
Alexia I don't have much knowledge about drugs but you have some good advise already and hopefully you will get some more posts!

I'm sorry you're feeling scared. Try not to get upset. There is a lot of information out there about marijuana if you want to do your research. I'm a regular smoker, myself, but do not recommend it to anyone who doesn't feel comfortable or who isn't self-educated.
It is important to note, that even though marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug, the US Gov't has a patent on cannabinoids (active chemicals in marijuana) that discusses their use as powerful anti-oxidants that can be used to treat a wide variety of diseases.
If you have any close friends or family members that you would feel comfortable talking to about this, I would highly recommend it. Remember, pot is not physically addictive and though you may be thinking about it, you still have the CHOICE to pick up or not. Stay strong and don't hesitate to continue posting!
Well, the thing is I have looked up stuff about it a long time ago with the help of a friend, so I know a bit about marijuana, but the only thing that really scares me is people I love abandoning me because I smoke. I have abandonment issues...

If you come to the decision that smoking is right for you, your real friends should be able to at least give you the benefit of the doubt and trust in your decision. Some people are also uneducated about it and thus, have feelings about it that may be unwarranted. Encourage those people to read up on their facts, and to try to see your point of view and respect your decision.
Those are REALLY good links Indica shared, so brush up! If smoking makes you feel better or alleviates pain/anxiety/eating disorder/whatever ails you, and you enjoy it, by all means, don't let others opinions affect it if it will ultimately leave you feeling worse. As said above, education is key, and at the end of the day, you have yourself and you yourself to take care of and make happy. *hugs* I understand your worries, but hang in there love. <3
I myself would not have ever found the relief I found for my eating disorder if it wasn't for cannabis, and I am waiting for the day when the rest of the country realizes the stigma put on it is bullshxt and a threat to the capitalist fat cats rich-getting-richer way of life. Hemp could solve so many problems.. But that's getting off topic.
Be strong! &If you ever need an ear to listen, drop a line.

I would try to avoid it if you can. I smoke a lot of weed, almost on a daily basis, and it's done nothing but make my mental health a lot worse, even though in the short term it really eases the symptoms.
Many of my friends are also regular smokers, and they all seem to be addicted, and need it to have a good time. I find the same thing, because I'm so used to weed and the effects it has, I find "normal" drug free gatherings boring. It is psychologically very addictive, as me and all these friends would agree, and it really is a slippery slope. I have found once you get into a "crowd" that does a lot of drugs, you will feel the need to do them just to stay in that crowd.
It really isn't worth going down that road, I'm only just getting away from it, but honestly, the fact I've moved into supported housing with a group of people that don't find drugs acceptable and have shown me how to have a good time without them. If my family ever found out they would be so disappointed.
Best advice I can give is stay away from people and gatherings where drugs will be involved as they drag you down with them.
