So went back to the doctors to tell him how i feel. I'm still grieving, i cant concentrate , i get frustrated a lot, also that i have tried gentle exercises and other things but my anxiety and panic attacks are still regular.
He told me he didn't want to give me medication because he thinks i can help myself by talking to people about things instead of bottling everything up.
I was like thanks for that, that was a waste of a journey the stupid t##t. i only wanted something to relax me a bit and to help me sleep :(
I have tried talking to a counsellor about stuff. But i found my self not being able to answer her questions and saying i don't no a lot. it's like i wanted to say things to her but it wouldn't come out. I just couldn't get the words out. I don't no why i think i was just scared to. My anxiety would get worse every time i went, i would be shaking and couldn't breath and would have butterflies in my stomach. I couldn't concentrate. I'm not used to talking about my problems and i think i was scared of what she would think, i new she was there to help me and not judge me i just couldn't get that to sink in to my head. I am just so used to being let down and being judged i found it hard.
Alot of people respond to medication but a small minority do not respond to any medication or there problems/issues can't be solved through medication only talking therapy or talking with someone with what's going on. If things persist maybe you can go back to your gp and say talking isn't really helping. Had your gp referred you to talking therapy?
He might also not want to give you things to calm you and help you sleep as they are usually quite addictive. And you depend on them alot!
Could you write things down to show your counsellor so when you can't say what your feeling you can show them?

A different counsellor? Maybe someone not professional? i'm not saying the doctor you saw was right or wrong, but medication isn't a long term solution. You have to deal with the feelings eventually, or they just fester and get worse and worse to live with.
I agree with what you are all saying about medication, i'm just fed up, i just wanted to be able relax a bit and maybe get a bit of help with sleep coz im only getting like 3-4 hour some nights. i may get back in touch with my counsellor and try writing it instead, thanks for you suggestions.
No no, its not a criticism of you, I think its a perfectly natural reaction. Try a different counsellor? Or tell your GP the lack of sleep your getting right now. I'd imagine they just don't want to start you on something and then have you dependent on it for an extended period of time.
I know what you mean, people just think it's easy to talk about how you feel, like that will just be the easiest thing in the world to do. It's not for me. Maybe try writing things down, I do that sometimes when I can't verbalise.
Also for me, a lot of times talking about things, bringing up the past or whatever makes me feel worse and then I regress even more.
I don't think it's the counsellor I think it's me I would be like that with anyone I think. It's like I want it to come out but it won't and ive tried so hard but it gets me anxious and all agitated. I think my only option left is to try and write it down and see what happens.
I think that is probably what is scaring me bringing up some of the past which I've been trying so hard to forget for years but I can't it plays on my mind all the time. It was such a horrible thing that happened and I've kept it to myself, I no I need to talk about it but it really is hard. Every time I think about it I can't breath and its like The whole thing replays in my head and it scares me. :/
I really can't emphasise enough how much that sounds exactly like me. It's like sometimes I'll be screaming inside my head what I want to say, but I just won't say it! And then I feel SO angry with myself and sometimes its so bad it sparks a crisis situation.
And I can tell you that writing stuff down has REALLY helped me. I might not be able to say the words, but if I quickly shove a piece of paper at someone, it can feel like you're in complete turmoil inside of you while they are reading it, but then it's like 'YES I've said it!' and you don't get all those horrible angry feelings afterwards.
I really can't recommend it enough. Give it a go the next time.
And then once you've told someone by writing it down, it gets easier to speak out loud. It might just be tiny 'yes' or 'no's' to start with, but that's better than absolutely nothing.
I used to be like this, not with professionals, but with people I knew, in the end I would ask myseld what's the worst that can happen and blurt a bit out. Most were shocked but no-one's ever not asked me more, tried to help. I've never been rejected for what I had to say. What's the worst that can happen? You feel worse? You might also feels sense of liberation at having someone share the weight off'your shoulders. By talking about it, you get the chance to re-process emotions, with someone else's views who might see things differently to you. You can store the feelings differently and gain some closure. Have you tried any confidence boosting techniques like shouting in a mirror 'I am awesome, I can do this' etc, it may help before a session.

Google them, there are plenty about, a lotmfocus on positive thinking, or at least with an open mind if you tell your self something positive enough times even you'll start to believe it. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you whipping out a mirror and whispering i'm awesome, i can do this if it helps you. Another tip is taking a mirror and when asked a question, tell yourself/reflection the answer.
