Have you taken these meds?

Rispiridone
Amisuperide
Lithium

At what dose did you take them?

What were your experiences?

Thanks

I took rispiridone a few years ago and absolutely hated it. It really wasn't a good medication for me, it didn't help with my symptoms.
I was sedated on it but also incredibly agitated, such a painful combination.

I really hope the meds help you darling x

I've been on/am on Risperidone and find it fine. I've been on between 1 and 6mg/day at varying times in the past and am currently on 25mg depot once fortnightly. The only time I have had a problem with Risperidone was a few years ago when I was titrated incorrectly and put straight onto 37.5mg depot plus 3mg oral medication (the oral meds were being reduced slowly). I am having some lactation issues on Risperidone, however.

Have been on Amisulpride briefly, found it didn't help with my symptoms and (sorry for TMI) made me really constipated.

Haven't been on Lithium.

I hope you find a medication that is helpful for you; sometimes it is trial and error.

Risperidone was a mixed bag. It eased voices, but made me like a zombie. It also made me lactate, so it was changed. I was on 7mg.

I haven't tried any of the others.

I started lactating when I was on respiridone. I was on lithium for a short while as well, but it just didn't work for me. I hope your meds help!

I was on rispiridone and was completely knocked out on it. Although it did help with symptoms.
And I was 13 years old when I was on it, so that might have made the sedating effect worse?

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

I was on risperidone for about 4 or 5 months. Doses from 1-8mg.

Made me lactate, and gave me tremors and restless leg syndrome, so I was given anti-Parkinsons meds alongside it.

In the end it was changed, as we'd reached the max dose, and I was still very ill.

I haven't tried either of the others.

Hope this helps, and that you find something that works for you :)

I absolutely hated risperidone. I started on 0.5mg and worked up to 5mg, so I was on a relatively low dose and it just killed me. I was constantly tired, and I got really, really bad skin. To be honest, though, if I can get side effects I usually will. It didn't help with my symptoms, but, to be honest I don't do that well with meds generally.

Amisulpride I did slighly better on, in that it helped stabilise my thought patterns, but it made me very sluggish and I gained a fair bit of weight in a short time. I had to stop taking it because I got physically ill, and they took me off all psych meds to make sure they weren't the cause, but I think that if I'd got over/better managed the side effects, it would have been good for me.
Like I say, I'm not good with meds, but it was the better AP of the two for me.
I've never taken Lithium though, sorry.

I was on risperidone for about 5 years at 6mg. It stopped my periods but I didn't have any lactation issues. It was a good med for me but stopped working in the end.

I've been on Lithium for years and it works well as a mood stabiliser for me. 6+ years. It contributed to weight gain and gave me acne (which I'm prone to anyway).

I do have to keep my fluids up while on lithium because I get dry mouth and get dehydrated.

I also watch how much I drink alcohol wise. ie I barely drink

I was on 8mg Risperidone when I was 15 and I found it moderately sedating, and my breasts grew in size (probably prolactin). I put on some weight. But it didn't really help my psychosis.

I am on Amisulpride now (only 400mg, but I'm working up towards 800mg) in combination with Olanzapine. I've been on 750mg Amisulpride alone before and I had insomnia (although I have insomnia anyway) and high prolactin (but I appreciated my periods stopping, that was good and I hope it happens again this time). But Amisulpride had least side-effects for me.

Lithium I have no experience of but I can send you some trusted resources if you want by PM.

Amisulpride is more of a D2 blocker at doses >300mg/day so it might cause some side-effects more related to first-generation antipsychotics, although not all.

PM me if you want a PDF copy of the ICD-10 or the Mental Health Act 1983/2007. I ALSO HAVE THE DSM-V BOOK and am a pharmacology student.

I have a visual impairment / neurological problems so I need people to type in clear text and no funny fonts. Also excuse any typos, my vision blocks things out.
I have autism and have problems communicating, PMs included.
Just becasue I type well doesn't mean I speak well. I am only part time verbal.

I am On Lithium at 1200mg , It works well to stabilize my mood but I have put on weight (Although I'm on other meds too) I've been on it for over 3 years.
They started me off on 400mg took bloods , then 600mg and took bloods etc until I got to the theraputic level of between.6 and .7 . I have once experienced Lithium toxicity where I knew the words but coulden't say them.
One thing to be aware of with Lithium is that you have to have blood tests every 3 months whilst on it.

I was on Risperidone for a few years at 5mg as a sedative, not as an anti-psychotic, but it worked very well for me as a sedative.

I was on Risperidone on tablets first and then the depot, it helped with my psychotic symptoms a bit but it made me gain a lot of weight so I came off it.

I was on Lithium for a bit in hospital, no side effects, but it wasn't helping me at all.

Hope you get the right medication for you.

I've taken risperidone but not amisuperide or lithium. Risperidone to begin with was alright and I didn't really notice any side effects and slept okay. Then after a while when the dosage was increased I struggle big time with sleep and agitation, although not as badly as aripiprazole. Both required early morning trips to the doctors and the use of valium to calm me down and help me sleep.

Everything passes, everything changes. Just do what you think you should do.
