food getting stuck in chest??

Everytime I eat I feel as if my food forms a lump and gets stuck in the center of my chest and I feel like I need to burp or throw up. Then when I try to drink water I feel like it just sits on top of the food lump. Sorry I know that sounds gross.. what can I do? I always feel nauseated...

Try eating slower and really chew your food.

Make sure you've chewed all your food well enough.

Is your breathing normal? Do you get anxious with eating or have an ED? What I'm wondering is that if you get stressed around eating it may be your bodies way to try and get you to stop.

There are quite a few things though and it may be that your food, for some reason can't get down the oesophagus quite as well due to a wide variety of reasons and really if that's the case it's best getting checked out.

I don't really have an ED... I have been really stressed out lately... And I do chew my food really really well but it happens with things like ice cream and yogurt. I don't know what to do.

You're probably either lactose intolerant or have a milk allergy. The same thing happens to me (I have a milk allergy). I would suggest getting tested by an allergist and avoiding dairy products (soy is good, I promise!).

P.S. This can suddenly happen (ie. you go your whole life eating dairy and all of a sudden you're allergic to it or have a lactose intolerance).

If you happen to NOT be allergic to dairy, but instead of an intolerance, just eat less dairy at a time and take a dairy aid pill.
