Ways Crisis Teams Can Help? *Trig**SH**Sui**Flashbacks*
So I ended up in A&E last night. Im sure i don't need to go into details for you to know the routine. Medical needs sorted, sitting and waiting for hours, on call CMHT person doing a check over to make sure you're safe, then sending you home with the view of someone visiting the following day.
Have been involved with the crisis team this past week or so, they were checking in daily before last night, so the person i saw obviously wanted to make sure a better plan was in place. But I struggle with anxiety so in those kind of difficult situations just shut down completely - even if i know you very well you're not likely to get more than nods, shakes of the head, or shrugs out of me at the most. Which makes for a lot of difficulty organising care plans.
They've asked me to think about what specific help I need and see them tomorrow with that in mind.
I think they're expecting some kind of self-care/worth revelation resulting in a 10 page self-written care plan.... at the moment they're going to be hugely disappointed.
People who have been here before, or would want to be able to sculpt support around specific needs, can you help me out here?
What would help? Because frankly I haven't a clue.
A whole day's thinking has drawn up only the following list. Main 'needs' i guess are centred around SH, suicidal thoughts / half-attempts, flashbacks, and complete lack of self care (not really been eating/sleeping/etc).
The only specific things i can think of (and a list it's taken 12hrs to come up with):
- To find ways of dealing with flashbacks (especially the ones that feel physical real; hurt, make me feel ill, etc)
- Learn to use the distinction between self harm motivations and be able to counter them individually
- Find other ways of dealing with emotions i’m not sure how to that don’t involve using individual memories of incidents as deterrents
Anyone got any advances on this? This from your own life you wish you had support with that might be relevant.
Really in need of some help but not really sure what that would look like to know to ask for it specificity.
