Elmo's world gets complicated- sex scandal on Sesame Street

Not that I think it is quite fair to view someone as guilty by accusation- but I am unsure whether it becomes very relevant that he has to now openly identify himself as a gay man and then clarify whether he had engaged in sex with a minor. He stated that he did not feel he should be public about his sexual orientation. I didn't really think to google it- I have heard him speak about having a daughter and an ex..........So divorce isn't taboo.....
The world that kids live in is changing- but has Sesame Street changed with it to include what is going on in the US in terms of LGBT families? Should it? I am concerned that issues of sexuality get very blurred by people with more distorted agendas. I am not sure if stereotypes have a place in children's programming. As a puppeteer, Kevin Clash stated that children accept the person behind the puppet- even when he is not hidden- adults can no longer see the magic. Will this scandal ruin it for everyone?

Again, 16 is not underage so I really don't know what they're on about. I agree he does seem a bit of a sleaseball but there's a difference between being a bit of a dick and being a pedophile.

The alcohol element concerns me.... Also, the fact that a 16 year old boy was happy to be in a room filled with elmo cuddly toys.... I don't know of any 16 year olds that are like 'Whoo Elmo!'.... I, personally, think there is more to it.

It is in New York (17 is age of consent). The third accuser was 15.

I don't know. There are a lot of sharks that come out of the water in a high publicity case. There is something untoward going on but that doesn't mean all the accusers are legit automatically. Sports stars in New York get falsely accused of stuff all the time - and sports stars commit real crimes all the time. Its a sad circus.
