Christmas cards!

So my partner says I'm really old-fashioned for sending birthday cards and Christmas cards, but I absolutely love it, and have about 40-50 people on my Christmas card list and have bought my cards [charity ones of course, so I can show off what a generous chap I am :p] and it's taking all my self-discipline to not start writing ALL the cards now! Only slightly disheartened by second class stamps going up to 50p...

What do people think about writing and sending Christmas cards? Is it going out of fashion?

Disclaimer: Sorry for talking about Christmas so early, I can't help being too excited!!!

Most of mine are to work bods, so thankfully cheaper on the stampage! I usually like giving/sending cards. But last year depression-itis made me keep from doing until right at the last minute.

Oh wow Liv, that's dedication! I tried to do cross-stitch cards one year, but it took so long- I only had about ten to do that year, but still didn't get them finished in time!

^troll! You laughed at me when I sent a birthday card recently!

And I shall be sure to keep an eye on the picture board Liv, in the hope that you upload jpgs of your cards and tags!

Wait if you're sending 50 Christmas cards out and stamps cost 50p each, won't you be spending £25 just on stamps!

I send out about 5 Christmas cards but I get someone with nice hand writing to write them out for me

A little bit more, because there's a few international ones. But I don't mind, it's a very small expenditure once a year :)

Im cross stitching three hopefully, though ive only got half of one done so far and im only gonna get busier.
Mostly they annoy me because some people just give them to everyone they know and then you kind of have to write one back even if you dont like them at all, but maybe im just a misery.

My Mum cross stitches her Christmas cards. She's always stitching right to the wire but they look lovely. I write cards, and enjoy the tradition, but don't have to send many as they are mostly to people to whom I can hand deliver.

If anyone recieves Incapacity Benefit or ESA (or Pension Credit, but I doubt that anyone here recieves it), then you can buy stamps at 2011 prices. I got a leaflet through the post about this, but I noticed it is on Royal Mail's website

http://www.royalmail.com/services/pe...tampoffer-pers

I will be taking advantage of this offer when it starts (it hasnt started yet), as stamps dont have an expiry date!

I feel like Christmas is going to be very difficult this year for me, my mother recently passed away. However I do love writing out Christmas cards, we do it yearly and I don't think It will stop this year. I don't feel like its going out of fashion, at least not for me. Its tradition for me and its one i feel Christmas wouldn't be the same without.

^^^ it is hard. But it can be nice too. I lost my mum nearly 6 years ago and Christmas and birthdays are never quite the same again, but you'll be surprised how much fun you can have aswell if you try.

Last year I did the whole christmas card thing then realised no-one else did so I am not bothering this year.

I think it is a nice thing to do though.

There's nothing wrong with starting to write them out now, as you have so many to do.
