oh god, now that im not modding im just going to make a billion threads a day.
so, on facey b, ive noticed when some people post pictures they put hash tags.
examples:
friend got married, posted image with this description:
Marry the one I love the most- check! #dreamcometrue, #gotmyprincecharming, #happytattooedlove
niece is travelling around Asia so we've had these with images of various things:
#afro #backpacking #Thailand #temple #bf
#bling #gold #temple #statue #shrine #religion
I believe it's a carryover from Twitter. People get into the habit from Twitter and use it on Facebook too, but I don't know if it does anything on FB.
My name is Matt, and I am a boy. Feel free to PM me :)
I have learned that the world is not a safe place. Not at all. But there are so many people who love me and want to keep me safe. And that is enough.
Yeah, they either set it up with Twitter or Instagram (as you can use hashtags on there).
It's basically a "key word" kind of thing so people can search for it, or click on the hash tag and see everything to do with that phrase/hashtag that other people have used in their messages/photos etc.
That's probably a terrible explanation.

^ I can understand doing that for things like #temple, #bike etc, but things like #gotmyprincecharming just seem like people thinking they are being overly cool and using silly new fads to show the rest of us how great their lives are.

Even as the stone of the fruit must break
that its heart may stand in the sun,
so must you know pain.
There are only two ways in which one can live their life. One is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is.
it started with simple things like that, but then people just got bored/creative I guess! It doesn't help now that tv programmes have caught on and now every now and again they'll display a random hashtag to go along with, for example, an act or a contestant.
I guess now that it's become mainstream, people are just using it more and more and it's losing it's meaning/why it's there more and more.

I use them on Instagram (because I am a likewhore) & when I share the pic with FB they stay on the description. Same with FlickR, but I rarely use that.
I reckon Facebook are gonna start using hashtags soon because everywhere else does.
I don't get it. I mean, I get it if your twitter is linked up with your faceyb, but so often it's just a random post with a hashtag without a joined twitter account (#justsaying being my pet peeve).
I just don't get it. It doesn't have any significance on faceyb that I'm just missing does it?
