really worried about getting into college

I'm really worried about getting into college and that'll it never happen. I'm 20 years old and still feel very behind. My few friends who aren't in college yet start in the spring and I won't be. I was homeschooled and i really feel like that messed up my whole life. I'm looking for colleges that I can get into with out having to take the SAT and aren't a lot of money or have super great aid. . .and I'm not really having much luck. I also am a bit scared that if I do get into a college people will think of me as a freak(I have green hair right now and dye it colors like that a lot, also have snakebites, and dress very . . .alternatively?) and am hopping for a place where I fit in a bit more, but I'm not ever sure if there are any places like that. :/ I just don't know what to do right now.

I think it's safe to say that you're definitely not alone in feeling this way. A lot of people feel that they're failing or falling behind when they compare themselves to other people there age. But honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.
There's so much to say here, really.

Some people start college too young before they really know what they want to do, or just go because they feel that they should. A lot of people will complete their degree and decide to go in a completely different career direction, or start college all over again. You'll find people in college from 17 years old to 50 +. There's no right time to go to college and no right thing to do in this situation.

Also, just because someone has been to / is at college doesn't mean in any way that they've somehow accomplished more than you or are doing better in their life.

What is it that you want to do at college? What do you want to study?

Also, about feeling like a 'freak'...anybody who thinks of you that way, or projects negative feelings like that onto you is insecure with themselves. When people label others or judge them in that way, it says so much more about the person casting judgement than the person being judged. You're confident enough to have your own style, and dress your own way even if other people don't like or understand it. Don't let anyone else take your individuality away from you. You'll meet all sorts of people in the world, including at college. You'll meet people like you, people completely opposite from you and everything in between. You just have to find people who accept you for who you are and who really love and care about you. That's where your place is.

I'd like to be a teacher or a writer. I've looked into the community college around where i live and am mostly just annoyed by it and really don't want to go there, because they have no standers all and are a really bad school. :/
